First time dining at The New Black and honestly we did feel a bit disappointed. On arrival, a very friendly and bubbly staff member greeted us and led us to our table. We grabbed our usual soy flat white and skinny cappuccino. We both thought the coffee was sitting a bit more on the bitter side, which wasn’t really for our likings. Food wise, I had their Fried Chicken Benny and my boyfriend ordered their Build Your Own. Starting with mine, I thought the fried chicken was tasty but was not as crispy as the would have liked it to be; the poached eggs were amazing and I really loved the picked red cabbage, sweet and sour and complimented the chicken; the sourdough was alright but I wish they had had the option to swap sourdough with waffle ( I strongly recommend it). The Build Your Own was better than my Benny, consisting of scrambled eggs on rye, mushrooms and bacon with tomato relish on the side. The bacon was thick cut and pan fried flawlessly, charred here and there but not burnt; the mushrooms were juicy and refreshing; the scrambled eggs were tender. We especially loved the tomato relish and thought it was a nice touch to the dish. Service wise, I thought it was brilliant. Everything was smooth and the coffees and food were served in a timely fashion. It was a bit busy and I recommend you make a booking prior to going, especially during the weekend. All in all, it was a good experience and we will go back for a second try and hopefully it will be better next time

# 4/5 Stars I recently visited The New Black's new breakfast area, and while the prices were a bit steep (averaging around $20 per breakfast dish), the experience was well worth it for those who want to kickstart their day in style. # Highlights - *Ambiance*: The breakfast area is stylish and modern, making it a great spot for a morning rush. - *Quality Food*: The breakfast dishes were delicious and well-presented, making the price point justifiable. - *Worth the Splurge*: If you're looking to treat yourself to a nice breakfast, The New Black is a great option. # Areas for Improvement - *Price*: $20 per breakfast dish might be a bit pricey for some budgets. # Recommendation If you're willing to splurge on a nice breakfast, The New Black's new breakfast area is definitely worth a visit. The quality food and stylish ambiance make it a great spot to start your day.

I really really like the furnish here. The waiters are friendly. The presentation of food is perfect. However, I am really sorry the food is just not my type. I ordered the waffle which is not crispy on the btm at all. The sauce is just ok but not perfectly applied which makes the waffle dry easily in your mouth. But the gelato is top-notch. With the mushrooms, the Rosti nest is very plain and I didn’t find the assorted fungi .... I added some pork and fennel sausages in the mushroom but it just made it extra difficult for me to eat. The sausage was really smelly and I almost threw it up...... Maybe I should have ordered something else, but I guess the experience this time is not the best for me. Whoever’s reading this review, please have a try yourself . The place definitely worth’s a visit and get yourself some nice selfies at least!

Unfortunately even a 1 Star review is probably generous. Sat at the restaurant for nearly 2 hours to discover our food order had not been placed.

We were moved (which is fine) due to a family arriving and needing to sit inside. Prior to this we had already been waiting for 30 minutes for someone to take our food order and even when they moved us they didn’t take our order which I found bizarre. Finally someone acknowledged us - this was also after asking 6 times for an orange juice. Once it hit the hour mark we asked where our food was as we could see others eating who sat down after us. We were told that the docket was misplaced and she would put in our order again but told us they had 3 dockets before us so it was up to us if we wanted to wait OR did we want to just pay for our coffees and go. No apology and a very condescending send off telling us “the coffees are on her”. After almost 2 hours of waiting you’d expect your order to go front of the line but we decided to leave as it was an absolute disaster.

When we left the table we were moved from were all enjoying their meals - lucky for them.

Maybe if they stuck to the current restrictions of 20 people at a time they wouldn’t be so...
