🥘LOVE MALATANG🥘 @lovemalatang Location: Shop 90a Sunnybank Plaza, 358 Mains Rd, Sunnybank QLD 4109

Rating: 4/5✨

i love malatang, everyone loves malatang, but have you tried @lovemalatang ♥️🥘♥️

situated in a little corner of Sunnybank Plaza carpark, is a wondrous shop that will serve you delicious hot malatang catered to your own taste😉🤩

what is malatang you may ask🧐well~ many people immediately point out the word ‘mala’ which is a sichuan numbing spice which is incredibly intense if you let it be🫢🤣this scares people off from malatang as some may not be able to handle spice easily cough cough me🥲🤣but! fear not, spice levels can be adjusted to your limits🥰

you are the chef at malatang, grab a bowl and a pair of tongs and select what you would like in your magical soupy bowl (or dry malatang bowl!)✨🥘you then get to select your soul base (different places have different flavours) and your spice level! and ta da! then you wait for your delicious bowl to arrive🤩🥰

there are SO many ingredient options to pick at @lovemalatang and there are some staple items that you will find across all malatang spots too!🥘🥳some of my must haves are:

cheese fish tofu 🧀🐟 lettuce💚 squid🦑 sliced beef🥩 quail eggs🥚 fish fillets🐟 enoki mushrooms🍄

but you literally cannot go wrong with anything, and it’s all in your hands😗🥰

conclusion, the selections at @lovemalatang are impressively large! i spotted a couple items i’ve never seen at other places!~ we got their medium mala spice, had me chugging ice tea so🥲🤣the soup base here is nice but other places are more to my liking but everyone is different!🥰🥘do give @lovemalatang a try, especially with this rainy weather, best time...

First I'll start off with the quality of food. There is a decent selection of meats, veggies, noodles and fungi available to add to your soup. There are many options for seafood and non seafood lovers when it comes to the protein. They also have multiple different types of noodles including handmade ones, which are quire delicious and soft when cooked.

You can choose between soup or dry, mild or spicy. Cost is based on weight, usually per 100g and can get a little expensive per person depending on what you add in.

Cooking time is usually pretty quick depending on how busy they are and the wait staff service is reasonable. I have had a previous experience where I specifically added 3 pieces of a particular item (baby squid which is noticeable) and found they weren't present in my soup after eating half of it. They rectified the situation by adding in the missing ingredients to my soup, but it makes me question why they were missing in the first place and how many times I've paid for a specific weight and been short changed in the kitchen.

The restaurant itself is nice and well set out, with an extra condiments table provided which has garlic, sauces, chilli and shallots to add to your soup in little serving bowls.

Overall I enjoy this restaurant and their selections, but will be dubious about the servings in the future as I've caught them out once, but have felt previous times I haven't received all the items I have paid for as well. Hopefully it was a case of they were left in the bottom of the pot and ended up being an...

Have you ever paid attention to what you ordered and what you got? If not, you should start paying more attention. When i ordered our food, I grabbed two cocktail sausages for my kids and when it arrived at our table, I noticed that the sausages had been cut into halves which is nice of them, however we only got two halves of the red sausages, this was not what we ordered. If they are in halves, we should have four pieces. We also grabbed a tong-full of the enoki mushrooms, however, in return we got only 5 strips of them. I have also noticed that all the food that I have grabbed in big pieces were cut into small pieces which will be hard for you to keep track with. If it is not the sausages can’t share equally between my children, we will never pay attention to what we ordered and what we get. What a ripoff and of course I didn’t take any photos to prove it. However I will never come back to this restaurant again.

Thank you for your reply. However, just because I payed too much attention to the quantity of each food I picked exactly as they were sharing equally between my two children, that is why I noticed the shortchanges. If we don’t count the quantity, we will never notice. We ordered two full sausages, we only received two halves. Not to mention the other meat pieces. And where were my mushrooms gone? Why the meat need to be big pieces and then cut into small pieces? That must be a specific reason behind this.

But anyway, we only want to let the others know what we...

h a n d s d o w n ✋😌🤚 the best malatang. first of all, location and vibes are amazing, super cosy almost secret underground restaurant. soup base is so good and usually the handmade noodles are amazing, last time I went though it seemed like they used pasta instead, hopefully that was a once off thing. staff are always very friendly and happy to help, our meat got taken out one day (I think they cook it seperate to avoid overcooking) and the worker v kindly went and cooked us more in replacement. out of all malas I would say this one is the fastest in service and probably more likely to get a table at due to it being hidden. I love how many options there are and how you can choose what you want and how much. great for a date or for a nice hot bowl of noodles.
