Newnham Hotel & Event Spaces — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I recently visited after a long time, and since it's right in front of my house, I used to come here often. The renovation looks amazing—it’s now so stylish and upscale! I was really impressed.

However, I personally found the terrace lights above the parking area a bit too bright, which made it slightly difficult to see when driving in. Also, during my evening visit, there were a few young people who seemed to know a female staff member, along with someone who was very intoxicated. The atmosphere was generally quiet, but they were quite loud, and the intoxicated person kept looking around at others, which made me feel uneasy and distracted. As a result, I couldn’t fully enjoy the Pokie game.

Additionally, there was a reserved table with a sign on it, but the person who reserved it was gone for more than 20 minutes. Because of that, I wasn’t able to play the game I wanted and ended up leaving. I think this is something that could be improved.

First time here in over a decade and it's a different place to what I remember. Looks pretty decent inside though it had fewer people in the bistro than I expected based on the number of cars in the carpark. Maybe they were all at the pokies.

The bistro being fairly quiet on a weekday lunch. No staff greeted me or acknowledged my presence so I helped myself to a menu and took a seat. Ordered online so the only real interaction I had with anyone was when the food was served.

With the average price of mains nudging $30 the food here was a bit pricier than I expected, but I'm not a regular at pub style venues so perhaps this is the norm now. My barramundi was $33 and came with a fair amount of roasted kipfler potatoes, a small serve of sauteed spinach, gremolata, and deep fried capers.
