A Colorful Taste of Filipino Culture in Sunnybank We recently celebrated a family birthday at a Filipino restaurant in Sunnybank, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with room for improvement. The ambiance is one of the highlights of the place, with vibrant, colorful decor that instantly lifts your mood. The few portraits scattered around the restaurant showcasing Filipino culture add a lovely, authentic touch. However, the customer service left something to be desired. While it wasn’t bad, the staff could certainly bring more energy and smiles to their work. After all, the front-line staff represent the face of the restaurant, and a bit more warmth could go a long way. Now, onto the main event—the food. We ordered the Crispy Pata, and it was definitely the star of the meal. The perfectly crispy pork skin, with just a small layer of melt-in-your-mouth fat, paired beautifully with the homemade dipping sauce. A true must-try! We also had the Bulalo, and it was equally impressive. The bone marrow was rich and flavorful, and the soup itself was superb—packed with savory, meaty broth and a delightful touch of sweet corn. To the chef, great job! It’s wonderful to see our very own Filipino food standing strong and making an impact. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from your menu! As for the pricing, it felt reasonable given the quality of the food and the overall experience. All in all, this restaurant offers a great taste of Filipino cuisine, but with a bit more polish in the service department, it could truly shine.

Checked out Wils Resto in Sunnybank on a Sunday night after seeing all the hype online. The place had a warm, homey vibe, and the food looked incredible, big portions and beautifully plated. But taste wise, most of the dishes didn’t live up to the presentation. The crispy pata and binagoongang talong were both very bland, which was disappointing since they’re usually highlights of Filipino cuisine. The binagoongan sauce felt like it was just masking the lack of flavour in the eggplant. The lechon kawali had amazing crackling, crispy, salty, and juicy but the meat itself was dry. The pancit was underwhelming too, mostly just onions and noodles. The standout of the night was definitely the Filipino-style spaghetti, sweet, comforting, and delicious. We just wish there was more of it. We did get moved tables three times (twice to fit bigger groups, once for our many dishes), which interrupted the night a bit but wasn’t a huge issue. Food came out in about 20 minutes, which was pretty good. But honestly, the real MVP? The steamed rice. It was fluffy, hot, and cooked just right and let’s be real, if a Filipino restaurant can’t get the rice right, can you even call it one? Thankfully, they nailed it. Wils has potential, and the portions are generous, but they need to put more love into the flavours. I might give it another shot down the line, but for now, it felt like style over substance.

We recently dined at Wills Resto in Sunnybank and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. I am thrilled to give them five stars across the board for their exceptional customer service, cleanliness, and authenticity. The staff at Wills Resto went above and beyond, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Their attention to customer service truly stood out. The restaurant was impeccably clean, adding to the overall positive dining environment. The authenticity of the Philippino cuisine at Wills Resto is commendable. Every dish reflects a true taste of the Philippines, and the flavors transported me to the heart of the country. The Sweet and Sour Chicken is an absolute delight—crispy on the outside and wonderfully tender on the inside. Additionally, the Will's Beef Stew was a hearty and delicious treat, showcasing the richness of traditional flavors. If I were to nitpick, I'd suggest reconsidering the pay-as-you-go policy in favor of a full table service to enhance the overall customer experience. Nevertheless, this minor detail doesn't overshadow the amazing food and service they provide. I highly recommend Wills Resto for anyone seeking an authentic Philippino dining experience. I genuinely hope they continue to offer their outstanding cuisine, and I look forward to returning soon. A truly delightful culinary journey!
