Sent email to Bernardi's after receiving massively under-sized servings: "Long-time occasional customer as we live in Qld but whenever we are in the area on holidays or travelling through, we come to Bernardi’s. It is our most loved gelati shop as we have been coming since our daughter was 5 months old. She is now 16. Yesterday, on the way from Lismore back home to the Sunshine Coast we called in for a gelati. The young lady serving seemed to be new to the job so perhaps this was why we were served the smallest double ice-creams we’ve had anywhere and the smallest serves we have ever had from Bernardi’s. I wish now I had taken a photo but they did not even sit above the edge of the cone. We all received two small scoops – so small I would have called them the children’s size. The amount of icecream in the cones honestly looked ridiculous, the serves were so tiny. I commented on it to the young lady as I paid and she said doubles are 4 x small scoops. I did not want to make the situation any more unpleasant so refrained from saying that she only gave us all two small scoops - none of us got 4 small scoops. Another staff member said ‘we are still getting used to the new cones’ and then asked me if what I was holding was a single or double. I told her it was a double and she said, ‘yes that’s a bit small’. She offered to top it up but my kids had already left the store and were waiting outside. We have never left Bernardi’s unhappy in a decade of coming there. We like being loyal to places we love so we will be back at some point but yesterday was really disappointing." Response from Beatrice: "Allow me to apologize about this mistake, as you stated we hold ourselves to the highest standards and our main goal is keeping our customers happy and satisfied. I did check with the staff and indeed it was a new person serving and they got confused among all the business. However please let me make it up to you, are you passing by again? We will be happy to give you and the whole family free double scoops. If not, will you be happy to send you a gift voucher for next time you are around?" I replied that a voucher for future use would be great. No reply. I sent a furhter email asking had she received my email. No reply. I phoned and left a message asking her to call. No reply. I sent an SMS. No reply. For the sake of NOT honouring her offer and saving herself $25, she has lost us as customers for ever. Not a shred of integrity. Dont make an offer to remedy if you have no intention of following through. Pathetic to change her mind about putting the experience right, and cowardly to simply ghost me. There's another gelati shop in Brunz we have never gone to but we will be going there in future. I see we are not the only ones to be deliberately ripped off by tiny and mean servings. Good luck keeping customers if you keep ripping them off. People notice and they vote...
Read moreI have been purchasing ice cream from Bernardi's frequently over the past decade, and I have always found the ice cream, the customer service, and the pricing to be exceptional.
Very few ice cream shops offer the large range of flavours Bernardi's has. Each individual flavour is exquisite, and are cycled regularly. The lactose intolerant and vegan customers are also catered to, and there is plenty of variety of sorbet as well as gelato. The range of flavours carry through to the equally tasty range of smoothies and juices. There is truly something for everyone.
The staff are always welcoming, and respond politely to any questions you may have. During the recent coronavirus pandemic, there is hand sanitiser available on entering, and everything is clean.
One of the greatest aspects to Bernardi's is the value for price. The scoops are always incredibly generous in size, no matter who serves you. The scoop size has not decreased at all over the years, and the price has only had a very slight and reasonable increase over the years.
I would highly recommend Bernardi's to anybody in the area looking for ice cream, and if it was possible to give it a review higher than 5 stars, I...
Read moreThe texture of the gelato at Bernadi's Gelato is equal to the best gelato anywhere I have eaten it in the world. Shamefully I rate cities and countries by how good there gelato is and Bernadi’s puts Brunswick Heads on the world map as far as I’m concerned. I regularly buy gelato in my travels and throw them in the bin if the texture isn’t right but the texture of Bernardo’s gelato is so smooth. The flavours are beautiful with the best tiramisu, rum and raisin and coffee that I have had anywhere but today I tried a new flavour which was rose, cardamom and pistachio! Their flavours are made from all natural ingredients like real fruit. Amazing. Do yourself a favour and get your self to Bernadi's when you’re in...
