We chose this cafe after a fair bit of googling the area. It looked and sounded amazing!
We booked for Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday we arrived and stood there for what felt like 5mins while 3 staff members chatted about another customer, while not one even greeted us. It wasn’t until I think the lady who is the manager asked them if we had been attended too that one staff member said yes- and we said no- that she quickly told them to get us seated. I know that it was a Saturday- and that most were juniors- but just a customer service tip- greet the customer- a simple hi- I’ll be with you in a tick goes a long way. We decided on satay chicken dish to share for brunch and a cappuccino each. We ordered the cappuccino with the sweetener to put in ourselves but had to hunt for a spoon to stir the sweetener in with. A soup spoon had to do. The coffee was nice and drinkable. The satay chicken arrived. Very dry and flavourless and cold. The dish is huge- but as you can see by the photos- it’s a cold salad with what looks like a tin of bean shoots filling up the plate and cold tofu dropped into a bowl. The hot items went cold super quick and didn’t really work with the massive amount of bean shoots. I think this dish would be majorly improved by having a rice with it, tender chicken and a much smaller salad side.
Anyway- it was very busy, so we thought we would give it another chance and go again Sunday.
This time we were seated quick and had cappuccinos and a kids eggs & bacon on gf toast. Kids eggs actually means one egg. So when the lady at the till asked “how you would like your eggs”- it probably should be “how would you like your egg.” It arrived in a takeaway box. After an expected wait- The young junior girl with very light brown hair plopped it on our table and said here’s your takeaway. I replied- bacon and eggs?- we are dining in. She said oh and walked off. Again- customer service- maybe offer a plate next time, instead of just walking away when a customer points something out. It didn’t matter too much being in a takeaway- but would have been much easier to eat off a plate. The poached egg was a little over done and so was the bacon- so it was hard to cut. Overall- it was okay.
We chose 3 stars- because it is a nice cafe, it was busy- and errors do happen especially when juniors are working, and with a few things improved- it could be awesome. It has a lot of potential. The coffee isn’t bad and from the reviews- the food is probably on point at other times. We may have just been...
Read moreExtremely Rude Customer Service I had a disappointing experience at this cafe in Busselton that left me feeling unwelcome and anxious. It was quiet with plenty of empty seats, so they weren’t busy at all. My friend and I went to the counter, and she asked about Acai bowls, which we’d thought we’d seen on their website. We were told they don’t offer them—only smoothies—so she decided not to order.
I took a minute to look at the menu and waited for the staff’s attention. While waiting, another customer approached, and the woman at the till rudely told me to move out of the way if I wasn’t ordering. I calmly explained that I was ordering, and her response was unnecessarily aggressive.
After I placed my order, she asked if I was eating in or taking away. When I said I’d eat in, she demanded a table number, even though I hadn’t sat down yet. I pointed to the table right in front of the till, which she could clearly see, but she insisted in a belittling tone that she couldn’t process the order without the number. Her attitude made me feel so rushed and anxious that I opted to take the order away instead.
What made matters worse was when she immediately ran over to another staff member, said something while looking at me, and laughed. It was humiliating and unprofessional. At this point, I didn’t even want to wait inside for my food. I spoke to the manager, who was lovely, apologised on the staff member’s behalf, and promptly issued a refund.
While the other staff seemed nice and the food may be good, this one employee’s rude and condescending attitude completely ruined the experience. It’s clear she’s not suited for customer service, and her behavior was...
Read moreWe visited The Good Egg Café this afternoon with high hopes, as it seemed like a popular spot in Busselton. Unfortunately, our experience left us incredibly disappointed and upset and it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had during our travels in WA. From the moment we walked in, the service was cold and unwelcoming. The lady serving us looked visibly angry, uninterested, and frankly depressed. There was no greeting or smile, and the entire interaction felt like we were a burden rather than valued customers.
We ordered a fresh juice, which was listed at $15 a hefty price, but we assumed it would be a generous, quality drink. To our surprise, the cup was packed with ice, leaving very little actual juice. When we politely asked for the ice to be removed, the staff member reacted with hostility, seeming angry and irritated. They brought the cup back only two-thirds full, which felt like a punishment for requesting what should be a standard option. For $15, we expected much better.
We also ordered the “Nasi Goreng”, advertised as an Indonesian-style dish. What we received was a far cry from authentic nasi goreng it was extremely sweet, lacked the typical savory depth, and came with only 3 or 4 tiny pieces of dry chicken. The portion was underwhelming, and the taste was bland.
Overall, this visit left us with a very unpleasant memory of Busselton, which is disappointing because the town itself is lovely. We truly do not recommend this café to anyone, especially visitors coming from Perth, Sydney, or anywhere else. If you're expecting friendly service, value for money, or quality food The Good Egg Café will only leave you...
