I was really disappointed with my experience at Bali Bagus Cafe. After hearing such great things from friends in Melbourne and seeing all the positive reviews, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, we were not welcomed or even acknowledged for over 10 minutes. We sat waiting, only to be completely ignored while the man behind the counter continued serving others. In the end, we had to approach them with a “hello” just to get a menu. It’s terrible not being greeted or acknowledged at all, basic customer service was completely lacking. First impressions matter, and sadly, this was far from the warm and welcoming experience we were expecting.

Yummy food, great for a lovely sunny day. Delicious caramel latte and interesting to try the magic mushroom oat latte. Chicken skewers were good with lots of satay sauce which is great as this can be quite skimpy in other places. Nasi goreng with garlic prawns was delicious and very filling! The servers forgot our table water but otherwise very lovely customer service. The people that took my order and served our food was very friendly and patient. Nice location by the beach/park strip and near the shops in the centre of Byron if you’re wondering about. Definitely recommend.

Came in here for breakfast twice because it was so good! Place was super busy both days so there was a slight delay on the food but the al waitress told us when we ordered and we were happy to wait. Got the pancakes the first day which were delicious and so filling. Also for a chai latte that I didn’t like too much, it was more a chai tea with milk. Açai bowl on the second day was amazing and I had my first golden latte (turmeric) which was so yummy and thick! This place is great for vegans and the food is so fresh! Would highly recommend stopping in if you’re in Bryon!

What a debacle we experienced at this establishment. First off, we ordered on the phone after looking at the menu online. Our order was confirmed and when we rocked up it was completely wrong. We were then informed the menu had been changed (and prices increased) but not updated online... not a good start. We then waited for a new order to be made, during this time the person that I can only assume was the manager, stood in front of the shop with the server both of whom were staring directly at me while discussing what went on. The owner then proceeded to walk around to every table and ask how they were going etc etc and of course left us out of the greetings. After eating the least authentic rendang and mie goreng we have ever had (my partner is Indonesian) we then had to be called back to the counter 3 seperate times to get the payment right. I would not recommend this place if you want real Indonesian food or a...

Being allergic to meat, I have just ordered vegetarian mie goreng, yet my plate came with fish (in about 20 minutes). When I headed back to the counter to ask about the fish taste, it was pretty clear that the blonde girl serving me had not paid attention at all to what I ordered, as she opened her eyes when asked about my vegetarian request.

Luckily the other lady was a bit more caring about their customer, and offered me to do a proper food, which I took another ten minutes. This lady came personally to check if it was good and to ensure it had no meat at all.

I recommend caution here, make sure they listened and understood...
