The Hum — Restaurant in Byron Bay

Not happy with pricing or explanation of pricing. Ordered 2 plain croissants $17.00 ($8.50 each) other cafes in town charging $5-6.00 eaxh for same and similar products. I questioned the price and was told it was correct. However the previous day I ordered 4 coffees and 4 plain croissants totalling $40.00 exactly. I again questioned the price after providing this information and the staff member replied with "that could be correct depending upon what coffees you had". If my maths is correct 4 x 8.50 croissants is $34.00 which would make the coffees $1.5 each. (That would make small coffees at 7eleven appear expensive!!!!) Could not help but feel ripped off with the pricing and insulted by the explanation and as a result cannot recommend the cafe.

Our experience at the Hum wasn’t great at all. The staff were super stand offish and not welcoming at all. They also didn’t listen to us when we put in our order so we had to say it multiple times. I ordered the brekky roll, I’m so sorry but that was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever had. The egg white was still raw and looked like someone had put snot in it. I’m not sure what the green stuff was but it was foul and certainly didn’t belong on a brekky roll. Also $20 for that, it was a joke. Stopped over for a quick smoothie before my meeting this afternoon.

Place is nice and clean and smoothie was delicious.

Couldn’t kill the French barista to have a personality and be welcoming and friendly. I felt like more of a burden for ordering while she was trying to drink her coffee than a customer trying to pay.

The site doesn’t offer bathrooms for their patrons which is bazar because there’s a 3 person woman’s stall in the hallway outback that EVERY OTHER venue that’s come before HUM let their guest use it. I was told I had to go out in the ran across the street to the dirty public beach...
