I've been going here for over a decade, and while the food is not the best Mexican, while the prices aren't dead cheap, and while the restaurant area is almost nonexistent, the restaurant has been totally consistent for many years. A consistent restaurant in Byron Bay is very rare indeed, and I can always rely on the handmade Mexican dishes provided here as being identical each time. So, visit here for a good, easy Mexican dish with a selection of quality chilli or hot sauces as dressing.

Great burrito bowl with pulled pork and guacamole. Was looking for something simple and fresh, and not too expensive. Ozymex hit the spot. Generous serving that we took to the beach and watched and listened to the waves crashing on the shore. All.was super tasty. A lot of locals eat here too so that is a good sign. The guy serving us was a great conversationist which made the short time it took to get it ready a super pleasant experience. Will definitely be back.

Definitely an aussie version of mexican food. It was very healthy which means bland. It ticks all the boxes in terms of ingredients but it doesnt have that mexican kick. But super friendly staff and the wait wasnt very long. Good portion size and it was yummy.

Greed is the only way to describe this food joint. Every gram of ingredients are counted and sprinkled on. You can see the workers carefully 'sprinkle' just enough ingredient to cover the surface area of the nachos ordered. The sauce is carefully sprinkled on and then spread over the surface area in the form of a very thin film. The same is with the salads and other ingredients. This way it appears that there are lots of ingredients, when in fact it's the thinnest spread out film of ingredients.

What is the result? I still felt hungry, and I felt bitterly unsatisfied with the greed of the ingredients used. With this micro counting, this careful spreading out of ingredients makes it falsely appear larger.

I’d suggest spending the money on Guzman; they give you a lot more food weight per dollar spent.

Will stay away from this...

Nothing Mex about it... extremely bland and absolutely no love or care in it. I got a pinto beans salad for $15 and considering rice and beans are the cheapest ingredients, you'd expect at least the portion to be decent. But no, had to go and get a pizza slice afterwards. Not sure how this place gets away with it, probably thanks to the location. The salad had the tiniest amount of rice and beans and was basically just undressed salad leaves. No flavour whatsoever. I asked for coconut spicy sauce but it was forgotten (I'm sure this was just a distraction as service was nice). Unfortunately I realised once I was home otherwise I would have...

I've been here a fair few times and from my experiences... The workers forgot which nachos was which and they barely put any beans in my nachos when I didn't ask for filling so it was pretty much just chips and salad... A lot of workers don't know how to roll burritos properly so now I only order a burrito when one of the ladies is working who I know can actually roll them properly without it all coming apart... Sometimes they don't ask what I want on the food it so they chuck everything in without asking, or even asking what type of salsa I want etc.... Food is tasty but the workers aren't trained...
