My partner and I had a delightful breakfast at Cliffy's Emporium on a Sunday morning. Despite the bustling atmosphere, we were fortunate to find a table without a reservation, but I highly recommend making one in advance due to the cafe's popularity.
Cliffy's Emporium exudes an enchanting art deco ambiance, transporting you to the past with its old-world charm. We were lucky to be seated next to the cozy fireplace, adding warmth to our experience. The service was efficient, and the staff attended to our needs promptly and with friendliness.
The rich history associated with Cliffy's Emporium captivated us. Dating back to the 1950s, this legendary store has been carefully preserved, maintaining its rustic timber and corrugated iron structure. Today, it stands as a beloved cafe where locals and visitors alike can savor exceptional coffee and indulge in the region's finest produce.
The menu showcases a variety of locally sourced ingredients, including cheese, meat, eggs, oil, honey, and preserves. We were impressed by the high quality and variety of options available, truly highlighting the emphasis on supporting the community through local produce.
The highlight of our breakfast was the delectable dishes we ordered. The Crêpes, adorned with banana, cream cheese praline, candied walnut, maple syrup, and vanilla ice-cream, were a true indulgence for the taste buds. The combination of flavors was divine, and the presentation was top-notch. Equally impressive was the Chilli scrambled egg dish, featuring crispy shallots, feta cheese, coriander, and sourdough toasts.
As coffee enthusiasts, we were pleased to discover that Cliffy's Emporium serves excellent coffee.
Additionally, Cliffy's Emporium caters to those seeking unique kitchen products. From hand-made millet brooms to hand-crafted kitchenware and ceramics, their carefully curated selection demonstrates great care and attention to detail.
Overall, our visit to Cliffy's Emporium was a delightful experience. The charming ambiance, efficient and friendly service, excellent coffee, and mouthwatering dishes made for a memorable breakfast. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Cliffy's Emporium is a must-visit destination...
Read moreWe had a bit of a mixed experience at Cliffy's. It was a long weekend and they were incredibly busy so we understood things may be slightly hectic for them, however we had booked in for brunch weeks in advance for this exact reason. When we arrived in time for our reservation we were told by a staff member to "wait in line outside and someone will be with you in a minute". As we've been to Cliffy's before, we knew that the line outside was for walk ins who didn't have reservations so prior to lining up we quickly reconfirmed that this was the line she was referring to, which she confirmed. After waiting in line a different staff member came out to confirm how many people were in our party, as well as others in line. After he walked off it became apparent that this was in fact the walk in line, and after speaking to him again he confirmed that we shouldn't be waiting in it. Another couple in the line overhead our conversation and advised that they too had a reservation but had also been told to wait in this line. Cliffy's has an understandable policy where if you don't claim your table in 15 minutes it's forfeited and you'll be charged $20 per person, the issue we had is we almost lost our table and were charged a no show fee due to a member of staff providing us, and another couple, with the wrong information.
Once we were seated the coffee and food were very good and it was lovely and warm inside with a...
Read moreWhat a great place to spend time relaxing and eating great food. I've driven past Cliffy's many times and it has always been packed with people. On a recommendation I finally took the opportunity to sit and eat there. The service is good, even though the place is very busy, and it looked like a mix of regulars and tourists eating on this day.
I took a seat outside and leant back to enjoy the sunshine and admire the building. It retains the charm of it's era and is set up and merchandised very well.
The menu is not large but it still took a while to decide between some appealing offerings. My order of a Fried Tofu Roll and Soy Hot Chocolate both came out quite quickly and did not disappoint. I'll say the tofu was a surprise. It was battered and fried and with the slaw and chilli mayo it was escalated from a bland healthy option to totally burger worthy. I had to cut it to eat it because it was a whole slab of protein. I'm not sure what kind of toasted roll it was on but it was so good that I used the lid to fill with chips because I didn't want to leave it.
People at other tables seemed happy with their meals and drinks and most, like me, had a wander through the homewares and food products on offer inside before they left.
I'll be back to try the other items on the menu but was very happy with my first visit...
