The Poet is an excellent venue to book for private functions. The ambience is fantastic for a casual event with friends and family. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere, soft lighting and top-notch customer service.
We recently booked the restaurant for an EID lunch and found the entire process to be very seamless. Madhav (the owner) was very cooperative, friendly, attentive and went above and beyond in ensuring a memorable EID experience for us. The restaurant staff was equally friendly and attentive too.
All the guests really enjoyed the food as it was oozing with freshness and flavors. Some items stood out to be everyone’s favorite, like the papdi chaat, fry fish and chicken tikka in entrée, Palak Paneer and Chicken Khurchan in the mains and Gulab Jamuns for dessert.
It’s a tradition for many South Asian families to have Sheer Khorma for dessert on Eid, and I asked Madhav if he could include that in dessert. Without any hesitation, Madhav agreed, although it wasn’t a part of their menu. The Sheer Khorma impressed all of us as it had the right balance of vermicelli, sugar, and milk. The roasted nuts sprinkled as the garnish were like cherries on top.
Our experience was nothing short of exceptional and dealing with Madhav and his team was a delight from start to finish. The delicious food, impeccable service and a welcoming ambience made for a...
Read moreMy recent visit to Poet Restaurant left much to be desired. Upon placing an order for biryani, we were surprised to receive fried rice instead. When we inquired about this discrepancy, we were informed that the main owner was absent, thus biryani couldn't be prepared. This lack of preparation and communication was disappointing, especially considering biryani was a featured item on the menu.
To add insult to injury, we were charged separately for onions and chili, which were only presented at the very end of our meal. These items are typically considered basic accompaniments and should have been included or clearly mentioned beforehand. Additionally, our order of yogurt came with an unexpected extra charge for raita came with Biryani. No yogurt was served at all. But staff mentioned raita is similar to yogurt and charged $5. We have never heard Raita is similar to plain yogurt .
Overall, the food service fell short of expectations. While the flavors were decent, the execution and attention to detail were sorely lacking. It's disheartening to have such an experience, especially when dining out is meant to be an enjoyable occasion. Hopefully, the management addresses these issues to ensure a more satisfying experience for...

The ambiance of the restaurant also added to the overall experience—warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal.
