Good Food At a Reasonable Price
This is a down to home type cafe/restaurant stle venue serving Uyghur Cuisine. There is a wide variety of choice on the menu which takes a bit of time to work through. In general, the portion sizes are on the larger size and would be suitable for two people.
This was our first time here so we definitely over-ordered but it gave us a good cross section of the food available. The order was:
Spicy and Sour Soup with Lamb - Came in a large bowl and was similar to a Thai Tom Yum but thicker and oilier. It was definitely spicy and tasty but a little heavy for my taste.
Stewed Lamb Spine Bone with Spicy Sauce - This was very tasty and it was a dry rub spice which was not overpowering. All in all a nice dish but you need to eat it with your hands to access the meat and marrow around the bone.
Fried Bread with Lamb - This was a tasty dish and very filling.
Wonton Soup - Came in a large bowl so all four of us tried the dish. Everybody commented on how good it was and was a nice counter to the other spicy dishes.
Charcoaled Chicken Skewers - You get three skewers and to be honest it was very disappointing and would not recommend ordering this.
Spicy Beef Thuck Noodle Soup - Once again came in a large bowl. Everybody commented on it being spicy and good to eat.
Chicken and Prawn Fried Dumplings - This was probably the dish of the night. There were 12 large dumpling, cooked wekk and a good and tasty filling. Would definitlely recommend this dish.
Sizzling Lamb - A very tast dish which was quickly demolished.
A few gotchas you need to be aware of:
Orders have to be placed at the counter as they don't really have any wait staff just food delivery to the table. There was an extended wait time from ordering to delivery of first dishes and they don't seem to come out in any order. Food is delivered as it is cooked. There is no EFTPOS. Cash or bank transfer only which is a little weird in this day and age.
We are definitely going back and would order less knowing the size of the portions. All in all I would recommend this restaurant to others but just be aware it is more of a eating place than a true restaurant and...
Read moreI’ve been to more restaurants that I can even remember, and every time, the overall experience is a combination between the cost, the taste and the service. The cost of this restaurant is fine considering you’re dining in at a restaurant, and the food itself isn’t too bad. However, the service has constantly on multiple visits been quite upsetting. The workers have treated us without quite a far bit of hostility and aggression, you find out you can’t pay using card after you’ve order, they dump the food on the table without saying anything and there’s half eaten food on other tables just sitting there for who knows how long. Upon asking whether they had a specific type of noodles, the employee responded with “does it matter?” quite rudely. The food came out quite fast, but it was literally as if they had thrown a whole jar of chillies on top (mind you I’m a chilli lover but not when its overpowers the actual food itself.). With some detail to customer service, this shop could definitely be better, but judging by how they had just two customers (us) over a Sunday lunch, I wouldn’t be able to say that...
Read moreIt is used to be really good. Now simply worst. Very rude and unprofessional staff. Their attitude is like- they are doing a big favour by giving us food. Food quality is now below average, and they jacked up the price higher than any other restaurant nearby. Worst part is if you dine in. They took 40min to give us just beef sizzling and after that, another 20min later, fried rice came up. By that time, beef became ice cold. After another 20min later some dumpling came up. Took total 1 hour to give us 3 dishes.
Definitely not going there again at least for dine in. Also for takeaway 40min+ wait time. And probably one of the most expensive and dirty restaurant now...
