Took my grandmother here for her birthday lunch. My grandmother called ahead to let them know my grandfather is Coeliac and needs a gluten free meal. When we ordered she also said gluten free meal. Meal comes out and we’re eating. Waitress comes over and says “the chips aren’t gluten free, but I can arrange for a bowl of gluten free chips to come out”, acting as if him being gluten free is a CHOICE. When I explained the situation to the waitress she was very very rude! Acted very nonchalant about my 86 year old grandfather having been food poisoned. Waitress also slammed the till in anger after I explained why she needed to be more careful in the future for customers with Coeliacs disease. Manager of the place afterwards approached us and “sorry, I wasn’t there at the time, and the waitress didn’t know the difference”. People who work in food industries should have a basic understanding of food allergies. They were very blasè and didn’t take accountability seriously regarding my grandfathers allergy. Seriously POOR attitude and service! I do not recommend this...
Read moreThe food here is pretty good, when it's open. Unfortunately the kitchen closes at 8pm and, even if they're still cooking your food, don't dare ask for an extra garlic bread at 8.03... the waiter didn't even bother to offer an "I can go and ask". In fact we felt like they were doing us a favour providing us dinner. The waiter stood by our table and insisted we order and pay, literally 1-2 minutes after we sat down. We hadn't even looked at the menus. Then they ran around wiping everything down, turning off lights and the televisions while people were still seated and chatting (post dinner) at several tables. We were still eating and, frankly, I've never been made to feel so unwelcome in a restaurant - and that was by 8.20pm on a Thursday night. For this reason, next time I'm after an impromptu dinner with my husband, we'll head on over to the George Harcourt or to...
Read moreI was really excited to try Trevino's today but I have to say I was really disappointed. I'll be balanced though. Our group had 2 x very undercooked steaks, 1 x undercooked salmon, 1 x undercooked burger, 1 x overcooked garlic bread and the kids jelly wasn't set and was liquid.
We asked for the steak to go back and they did cook it longer. We got a refund on the burger which we didn't ask for but I thought was a lovely touch. The salmon was reheated but a big chunk taken out of it when it came back.
It was an odd atmosphere. It was like they are trying to be finer dining but not a menu to match. I probably wouldn't eat there again but if you're playing gold there and want a beer and a bowl of chips then you'd be fine.
Also, it's not really a place for kids. There's nothing for them to do there.
The staff were friendly though. I couldn't fault the...
