Bathers beach house restaurant is amazing, great food, great service and amazing views.
Their New Years Eve event was terrible. My 5 friends and I paid $145 each for an "all inclusive" event. The description stated "we're hosting an all inclusive New Years eve event featuring a range of premium beverages..." "...you can enjoy red and white wines all night! plus we will have closer sparkling wine, together with a range of our tap beers included, if you feel like a cocktail, green goose will have you covered with a number of cocktails available on the night". "All inclusive tickets are available now via visa sticky tickets and the link below".
Tell me why when we arrived we were told that cocktails have to be paid for and are $19 each. The description for this event stated twice "all inclusive". We received 1x peach bellini upon arrival but other than that our free choices were wine, sparkling or beer.
My friend complained to the event manager stating this is false advertising and should the event description stated that cocktails are not included in this "all inclusive event" none of us would have bought tickets. We spent $870 all together on tickets and if all we wanted to drink was beer, wine and sparkling we could have gone to any bar that didn't charge us $145 for entry.
The event manager was very kind and offered my friend a special bracelet that allowed free cocktails because she wanted us to enjoy our evening. Her instructions were that all 6 of us could benefit from the free cocktail bracelet as long as we don't abuse it or use it on strangers. She also said we could only pick from the list of 5 cocktails they have available. I asked her for a second bracelet so that my friend didn't have to be the only person going to the bar every time to get one of us a free cocktail. The event manager repeated to me that the bracelet included all of us so we didn't need a second bracelet.
We couldn't be more grateful for this kind gesture so we thanked her and went to the bar and ordered a round of espresso martinis. The first bartender was lovely and made our drinks with no issues. But that was where the kindness ended.
We didn't want to abuse the kind gesture so we mostly ordered the free wine, sparkling and beer. But every time we returned to use the bracelet again, we were met by such distaste by the bartenders. Every time they served us they sighed at us, rolled their eyes and didn't speak with us. They treated us like we were stealing money from their wages.
One even spent 10 minutes disputing us, saying we're making things up. After he checked with another bartender he returned with the worst attitude and said we could have a vodka cocktail but it can't have any other alcohol in it. When we asked why we couldn't just pick from the menu like we were told to by the event manager he refused again. He refused almost every simple cocktail I could think of but also refused to tell me what he was willing to make. My friend with the bracelet got so upset at his condescending and rude tone that she wanted to leave. After so much back and forth he left, spoke with someone, came back and finally said "you can order anything from this list". We ordered 3 mojitos and left the bar.
At around 11pm we were all feeling defeated. All of us had experienced rudeness by the bartenders for simply taking up an offer kindly offered by the event manager. Why offer us something but then make us feel like dirt when we use it? This experience completely ruined our night and our New Years eve. None of us wanted to go back to the bar to order another drink, not even the free wine. With our new years eve ruined we all left around 11pm and went to a different bar.
I am so disappointed at the rude service we received, especially after how nice the event manager was. Safe to say we will never return or recommend bathers beach house events to...
Read moreI'm a sucker for a good beachside restaurant, and this fits the bill perfectly. Cash, credit cards and probably e-wallet payments accepted. Indoor and outdoor seating (indoor seating somewhat marred by loud pop music, but you're seaside - why sit inside?!?!). Full bar, curated menu highlighting seafood but with a few other options.
Weathered wooden tables with large umbrellas (more to ward off the seagulls than protect from the sun), movable fire pits to assist in staying warm outside when the weather is chilly. Food is delicious and the cocktails are spot on. It's not cheap, but it's not significantly higher than a lot of other places in the Perth area and you've got a premium view as well!
Grilled prawns are fantastic. Five large prawns served head & tail on but shelled otherwise. Head comes off easy leaving the delicious meat. barely overcooked but the seasoning is delicious. Pairs perfectly with their garlic bread (ordered separately). Three pieces of grilled, buttered & garliced sourdough bread. Perfect for sopping up the prawn drippings or whatever else you're pairing it with. Order fresh oysters individually, served with a red wine & garlic vinaigrette and a slice of lemon. Respectable size and delicious with a strong brine flavor augmented by either the lemon or the vinaigrette.
For cocktails, an amaretto sour is always hard to pass up and this one was perfectly balanced with a smooth egg-white foam on top with a couple of dashes of bitters. Their riff on the Paloma is equally delicious if (like me) tequila is your go to. Neither oversour or oversweet and served without a salted (or sugared) rim. Truly delightful.
If you're dining outside, you order and pay inside and they bring it out to you. You can't beat the ocean view and fresh air. Highly...
Read moreUnfortunate Experience at Bathers Beach
My partner and I visited Bathers Beach yesterday for what we hoped would be a pleasant evening of sunset drinks. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by an incident that left us feeling unwelcome and disheartened.
Upon ordering drinks at the bar, we were told by the bartender that we could sit upstairs, where there was another bar. However, upon reaching the designated area, we found a red rope and a reservation sign. Confused, we approached the reservation lady, only to be informed that the area was not open. It seemed the bartender had misinformed us and had set us up!
Undeterred, we decided to move to a window around the corner, where another bar was located. When ordering drinks, the lady asked for our table number. When I provided "table 125," she responded with an unwarranted attitude, questioning TWICE if we intended to stay on the premises. The implication left us uncomfortable, as if we were being judged, possibly due to our skin complexion?
Feeling embarrassed and unwelcome, we chose to leave the establishment without having our drinks. We found solace and warmth elsewhere, where we were treated with respect and embraced for who we are. In fact, it was at another venue that my partner chose to propose, an experience that could have been truly magical against the backdrop of Bathers Beach's sunset.
It's disheartening when a potential beautiful memory turns into a regrettable encounter. We hope for better cultural awareness and sensitivity in the future, fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued and not judged based on the color of your appearance.
Seems judging by skin color is still on...
