Unfortunately everything was wrong. First pizza arrived 40 minutes before the last one, entreè arrived after the pizza. We could have accepted these few mistakes. But the night kept going wrong We ordered 1 polenta chips, 7 pizzas and 1 gnocchi. Gnocchi good but very salty, all the 7 pizzas had wrong ingredients compare what it was written on the menu. 5 pizzas were supposed to be with a whole burrata. 1 came with it, 2 didn't, 2 came with half burrata each. The wait staff didn't even know what we were talking about, the chef apparently told the wait staff, after he made the pizzas, "we run out of Burrata", all good it can happen, just maybe tell the customers before to make the pizzas. Pizza dough had zero salt in it and the explanation of the manager was: "salt make the dough go crazy" tomatoes sauce on the pizza way too full of garlic and again the manager said: "in Australia they love it ". One pizza uncooked, they made it again, and got wrong ingredients no olives but onion instead, burnt on the bottom and raw in the middle. Mortadella was ham, and the manager just said "yes we use ham" (so maybe update your menu) the same pizza had parmesan and rocket (both ingredients were not on the menu) manager said: " yes we use it like garnish"(perhaps someone could be allergic??) Chef has, apparently, cooked for 30 years Italian food, so I suppose it's 30 years he doesn't have a clue what Italian food is.
Please don't call it Italian if you don't want to follow...
Read moreVisited "Ostro Italian" in Fremantle with my family, and I must say, the experience was delightful. Being a true Italian with a deep love for pizza, I have high standards, and Ostro's pizza exceeded my expectations – absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, with polite and friendly waitstaff. A special shoutout to Mr. Matteo, who made several rounds to check if we were happy with our food, a touch we deeply appreciated.
The kids' menu was a hit with my children, and the pricing felt very fair, especially considering the stunning seaside location. However, there were a couple of areas I think could enhance the overall experience. First, the absence of music felt like a missed opportunity to elevate the ambiance, particularly for a place by the sea. Second, I noticed there's no board outside to attract passersby. It's a shame because you wouldn't know about the fantastic pizza and cocktails unless you went in and asked for a menu. A little something outside to showcase what's on offer could really help to draw more people in.
Despite these minor suggestions, our dining experience was wonderful, and I highly recommend Ostro Italian to anyone looking for quality Italian cuisine...
Read moreHighly disappointed with the pizzas, we ordered 7 pizzas and they all had different ingredients that what’s on the menu. All of them had a garlic tomato sauce( no marinaras were ordered ) on menu sauce tomato base.. The dough was unsalted and doughy, one pizza had to be returned because it was uncooked and got back a new one that had missing ingredients on it.. instead of basil we received rocket and to top it up shaved Parmesan on every pizza because that is what they use as garnish and according to the staff all Italians like Parmesan 😅 Mortadella pizza had ham on it (staff specifically said it was ham and not mortadella). I decided to call the manager and advised him how to improve their pizza in a nice manner because despite the shocking things we all had to go through for a simple pizza there is no point in being rude and thought it may help them improve for the future but once the bill was paid instead of being ashamed of what happened staff member had the guts to say that we were the only table that complained that night. Clearly not Italian cuisine, I highly suggest to change their name into something else other...
