We just by chance found ourselves in Freemantle for a cheeky getaway before attending and industry expo. While walking around we came across Char Char. The menu looked appealing so we popped in and asked if they had room. Thankfully the was quiet a selection of tables of 2 so we had our choice. The atmosphere was quite nice but lighting while very soft, it could be a little to gentle for some folks to read the menu. We opted for the Carnivore Feasting Plate. We also added a side of roasted leeks as well. We started with some still water and a G&T. When dinner started to come out we had to start consolidating our drinks from their bottles to their glasses to make room for the serving plates and dinner plates. (Tables just a tad to small for everything) salt and pepper was presented in 2 little ramekins for pinching and sprinkling on your food. We were asked if we would like anything else to drink. Unfortunately to make room for the food the drinks menu had been removed so we had to ask for it again so we could get a wine to go with dinner. Food was incredible! Steak cooked to a rested medium, beef short rib was flavoursome and easy to take off the bone while at the same time not so overcooked has to break up before inserting on your fork. And the mint salsa with the lamb shoulder was incredible. Hardiest issues for plates like that is eating fast enough so the food does not get too cold. Also had sticky date pudding ( a little spongy for our liking but was still tasty and this of course is only our opinion, other folks would probably really love it) finished with a short black and a digestive liqueur. All in all a nice experience. Great job team.

Went for dinner at this amazing venue. What struck me was the sign at the front 'best sticky date pudding in Australia, world, universe.... Actually not what I expected for a place with a menu pretty much full of meat. Tonight, both my wife and I just walked in, we must have come in early, id say around 6pm, there were some people dining in already, but not too full. We were asked where we wanted to sit and most of the nice tables were taken by reservation, which I thought was a great sign. Looking at the drinks menu, Im not a big drinker but dont mind a beer on tap from the local brewery and glad they had a Swan Lager, perfect and enjoyed every single single drop. My wife had the beef ribs, meat fell off the bone and full of flavour. Probably fit for someone very hungry, my wife was only able to eat half the portion. For myself I had the surf and turf steak. Sorry I didn't take a before picture, but as you can see the after picture, the toppings and sauce wasso full of flavour. I also had the potatoes, which had a mixture of crunchy pieces which added to the texture of my meal. Meat was cooked to perfection. Finally, the Sticky date pudding. It didn't disappointed either. Good enough to share for 2 after a big hearty meal. They had vegetarian options too, but im not sure if this place would be recommended for vegetarian. I wouldn't say its a complaint, but more feedback, because it was towards the end of winter and raining outside, it would have been preferred if it was a little warmer inside. I kept taking my jacket on and off. All staff were pleasant and accommodating. I would highly recommend CharChar for a meal.

Fine dining. Too fancy for Fremantle? This place is new to the Fisherman’s Wharf and has taken a spot that has proven as a dead spot for many that have come before. The place represents fine dining and was filled with a scattering of business types and well dressed folk during a Thursday lunchtime. Unusual to see in Fremantle but this could be the place that they go and deserves a space here for that! The place is immaculate, pretty fancy and modern, the glasses look shined to a pristine sheen and the staff the same; all neatly pressed and seemingly very well trained. They didn’t step a foot wrong, all walked with straight backs and served with polite nods pleasant gestures. Food was really tasty and all beautifully done, drinks menu extensive and coffee was also very well done, perhaps expensive but worth it for what you get here! This place will do well in the busy times, hopefully gets a fine dining following and business regular crowd. Otherwise destined to fail. Too many great blue collar places around here that cater to the WA crowd. If you want a fancy treat, then come here, it’s pretty special. Don’t know who runs the place or the chef but I imagine they have done this before and know how to do things well. Only been here once but it was exceptional. Food porn attached.

Me and 3 friends ate here the other day and ive never eaten such bad food and been treated so rudely by a manager!

my experience started with the pork belly which came as a well presented small slice but upon tasting it i realized it was flavorless and had no crunch to it whats so ever! This was followed by lamb for a main which was well cooked but tasted like a block of salt which ive never experienced before and the wine sauce it came in literally made me heave and the veg side tasted like something that came out of a packet brought from a cheap superstore!

here is a list of my friends experience scallops = gritty and flavorless muscles = were of a very good standard and a very tasty wine sauce The sea food main = not seasoned with chewy linguini 1 or 2 pieces of fish badly cooked and chewy squid! we sent them back after not even eating half as it tasted like a bowl of butter. pork loin chop = standard taste again came with red wine sickness sauce which was only saved by the peppers!

When the waitress asked us if we enjoyed our food we all said NO and i don't know if she thought we were joking because she just walked off. We went and asked for the manager who was very aggressive, defensive and was very hostile towards us. We explained our experience of the food in a carm and friendly manor to which he replied he would see what he could do. After a 25 min wait the manager came over and gave us a full price bill $250 (not even 1 dollar off) by this point we were very frustrated and just paid it as we knew these people were not worth dealing with.

I have no complaints against the very friendly bar and waitress staff! our surroundings were nice but the toilets were discussing! i've seen better by the beach.

Please don't eat here... save your hard earned cash and go to Mcdonnalds as the foods better quality and...

My husband and I had dinner here recently as we were celebrating his birthday. We had been here many times before when it was previously called Char Char Bull and always had fantastic meals. We were disappointed this time and I will list why. We were placed at a table that was shoved into a corner and too close to other tables even though there were ample empty tables available elsewhere that were still empty when we left. When the waitress came it was very awkward for her to serve us and the waiter for the table next to us kept bumping my chair. My husband's entree was good but mine was average. The vegetables were completely raw and tasteless. We both had steaks for main. The eye fillets were cooked to perfection but ruined due to overseasoning of salt by the chef. There was way too much tarragon in the bernaise sauce and it was over powering. The chips tasted like they were cooked in the same oil as fish and had a fishy taste plus the oil was probably not hot enough so they were soaked in oil in the cooking process. After our mains the staff brought out a little scoop of icream with a candle in it and sang 1 verse of happy birthday to my husband. Whilst it was a nice gesture it was underwhelming and honestly they shouldnt have bothered. The whole ambience of the restaurant has gone down hill. They have replaced the beautiful tables and chairs with plastic ones and gone are the crisp white table cloths. The tables are placed too closely together and has the feel of an upmarket Sizzler. The staff are friendly enough but seem to be mostly on working visas and not properly trained for a fine dining restaurant. We will stick to Friends restaurant for our fine dining experience in future and won't be back here...

I was dining solo. The service ruined the experience. I asked the waiter if they have a cocktail with lime, and he replied no. I had to search and found their Gin Gin cocktail. It was gin and lime, and was great, but would have been better if he knew the drink list and suggested it. I ordered a half dozen oysters 'au naturale', but they arrived with herbed breaded portions in each oyster which spoiled the flavour. I then sat with a table that needed clearing for 15 minutes, while waiting staff passed me by as if I didn't exist and cleared and set other tables. It wasn't a busy night. As a solo diner this was the worst. A waitress eventually came and asked if I was ready for my main meal. It was like a stupid question and put me on the spot instead of acknowledging I'd been let down and taking some ownership. My main - duck and side serve of chips - arrived shortly after. I took a small mouthful and it being good, sighed with relief, loaded up my fork and put it in my mouth. At that precise moment, a waitress arrived intrusively asking if my meal was ok. It spoiled the moment completely. I spent well over a hundred dollars. The food was good, 4 star. The drink service was good. The wait service was terrible. It was not the 5 star experience many years before. I cannot recommend this place as a result, no matter how good the venue, ambience, background music, view, drinks and food. I gave feedback about my discomfort, and stressed the importance of observing the diner and anticipating their needs, and timing things well, and she managed to disagree with me on point of the intrusive and poorly timed enquiry as to my main meal, and seemed happy with that. It was anybody's night except mine,...
