Short Order — Restaurant in Fremantle

My all time favourite burger joint in Perth. I used to frequent their old location at The Mantle, but I’m in love with their new storefront at Freo.

I always order the Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger, and have never been disappointed. The bacon is delicious and glazed beautifully, followed by tasty barbecue sauce and the staple short order patty placed between two brioche buns. I highly recommend ordering this burger, alongside a side of chips and a malt thickshake.

Although the cost for a meal here is pricey, I believe you get what you pay for, and you can’t put the price on quality. Unfortunately their new venue is not BYO, however they offer a selection of quality local brews to compliment your burger.

The atmosphere at the new venue is relaxed, yet fun at the same time with great music in the background. Tables, seats and floors are always clean and staff are always friendly and professional. Short Order is perfect for kids, families, adults and business meetings. I believe they offer catering too!

A fairly decent burger joint, have never been disappointed by the quality of the food at all: the beef burgers are done medium rare by default, quite tasty and decent size. The smallest portion of chips is easily something you can share between two adults at lunchtime.

However, it's very expensive, with a cheap burger, fries and a craft beer exceeding 30 dollars, and not the healthiest food in town. They're liberal with the salt, the burgers can be very greasy, and the buns are sweet even for brioche. I personally find it all very tasty, but it's definitely a treat for rare occasions. I usually come in and just grab a burger for lunch once a month.

The craft beer range is better than you might think, but nothing amazing, and the cost can be a shocker when tacked onto your meal, you're unlikely to drink more than one thing here, despite the exhortation to "drink here, not there". Used to love the buffalo wings, however the portion sizes have been getting smaller and smaller, with less buffalo sauce and smaller wings for a while now. I've resorted to weighing the 500g portions, giving them 3 chances before I complained and all portions were under 400g in weight, with the box and sauce, celery etc included in that weight. I complained and was given free wings that were back up to 500g, then then very next time the wings are both under 400g again even after adding a note to our order about the wings being underweight previously. At this rate they are ripping their customers off, after speaking to the manager with no change the only thing left to do is leave a review. You are consistently ripping customers off with portions over 20% less than advertised. Now I know why they are called...
