Looking for some quick food and coffee, we were fortunate enough to come across this little gem. There was a display full of bagels and then another display of other tasty looking things. Being on a trip from Brisbane, Perths severe lack of lactose free milk (not soy or almond milk but actual lactose free milk) had disappointed but these guys had it. They also had soy and almond and rice and others I don't care to remember. They made a very tasty coffee and the bagel was very well thought out and tasty. The gent serving us suggested I get my coffee and bagel as a meal so that it was cheaper before he added a little extra for a large. The place has a nice quirky feel, a fairly reasonably sized library and a tip jar that is donated to the children's hospital. All up I think this us a great little place and I wish it was in my home town not on the opposite side of...

The beauty of this hidden gem is the fact that for as little as twelve dollars you can purchase a very tasty bagel with a good coffee. That makes this one of the cheapest breakfasts available in all of Fremantle. Elsewhere you would be paying more than that just for the bagel, but here the coffee is basically free as it is included in the special deal. Grumpy Sailor is tucked away in an arcade but still very centrally located. It is behind Benny's In Paddy Troy Mall, which is currently undergoing a transformation to be pedestrianised. The staff are friendly and helpful too. You can even sit outside in the sunshine if you want. They have alfresco chairs and tables set up so you can sit in relative peace from the hustle and bustle of the main cappuccino...

Found this place randomly walking through Fremantle.

They have a huge menu, a bagel lovers paradise! Almost every combination of bagels you can think of (you can even make your own creation!) They also offer all day lunches just incase you want something different for breakfast.

Their own blend of grumpy sailor beans was really rich and smooth, in the neighbourhood of 5 senses imo.

The cafe decor is fun and quirky with mismatched furniture and a vintage feel.

They also sell their own apparel in store to support small businesses in Nepal.

Great staff and service, definitely a place where you want to hang...

Chanced upon this place and decided to try the bagel set for AUD12 which comes with any pre-made bagel and a coffee. Tried the Baconless (egg, hash brown cheese, Spinach, BBQ sauce) and From the Earth (olive tapanade, marinated artichoke, roasted peppers, roasted eggplant, rocket). The latter is sour but refreshing. The bagels are well-toasted and crispy. What a delight! The coffee is strong and a good complement with the bagel. Friendly service from the Vietnamese couple. Spacious eating area outside the shop, and takeaway is available too. Do support them!
