Sorriso Food and Wine — Restaurant in Geelong

I was here about a week ago and Sorriso Food and Wine in Geelong has all the makings of a great restaurant — a central location, stylish branding, and warm, welcoming staff. Unfortunately, what happens in the kitchen doesn’t live up to the front-of-house effort.

To be clear: the staff were lovely. Friendly, polite, and doing their best under what seemed like a chaotic and poorly managed service. They checked in when they could and remained courteous throughout, even when things were clearly not going to plan.

But no amount of charm can make up for the food — which was, frankly, a letdown. The pasta arrived lukewarm, claggy, and lacking seasoning. It tasted like something pulled from a packet and plated without much care. For a place that positions itself as offering “refined” Italian food, this was a swing and a miss.

The wine list was surprisingly limited and overpriced, and the ambiance — while trying to be sophisticated — felt cold and impersonal.

It’s disappointing, because there’s clearly potential here. The front-of-house team is doing their part. But unless the kitchen steps up and starts delivering food that’s worth the price tag, Sorriso will stay a place you visit once —...

Firstly I would like to thank the waiter who served us as he was put in a really bad situation, he did his best, good job mate We arrived to be told our booking for 12 hadn't even been reserved, We then get seated and told there was equipment failure and nothing fried could be served. Ok we are reasonable we ordered something else. Waiter comes back, chef says he isn't doing that now, once again reasonable ordered something else. Waiter returns, can't do that now, we try again. Finally Waiter comes back can't even do that. Couldn't do fried food, couldn't do parmas, couldn't do steak, couldn't do lamb cutlets on a Saturday night when there was maybe 5 other people in the...

We were the first at the restaurant and waited 70 minutes for our coffees, which were lukewarm and wrong when they finally arrived, after we asked 4 times. Food delivery time was acceptable, just. Service from the tall young man was abysmal - basics like cutlery, serviettes, and water not delivered to our table. Luckily the young blonde woman serving inside was extremely competent and trying hard to mitigate the damage. She deserves praise and a pay rise. We were not offered any discount, voucher or compensation, and the bill for basic food and drinks was very expensive! Absolutely not value...
