Sir Charles Darling Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Edited april 25' Barramundi, eggplant parmi and entree of calamari. Delicious calamari, generous portions and parmi was really nice with roadted red peppers in the sauce. Love the flexibility of swapping salad and chips to veggies or mash etc. Decent prices, really great service from staff today, even asking the chef to purposely overcook one of the steam veggies for my dining partner with braces. Good variety of chilli sauces to compliment your meal.

Good food, good prices. The onion rings and salt n pepper squid starters were great. Standout from the mains were the cheeseburger and the grilled barramundi. Inside pub area a bit bland, and I can tell it'd get tight once busy but was quiet on the 29th dec for a late lunch. Menu has an option for everyone, great variety and they seem to do different specials on various days. I also appreciated their condiments station so you can freely grab whatever you need and great idea on the games that you can use at the tables. The only sour was the blonde female bartenders response and attitude when I brought my shiraz back and advised it smelt flat (just smelt really wrong). She checked the bottle and came back to advise it had just been opened, don't know why as it didn't change the fact that there was something wrong with it (for reference I ordered a glass only and only a few tiny sips had been had). She didn't want to smell it as she advised she doesn't drink wine. I ended up asking for something else, anything else. I got their house red instead and it was fine. Her attitude by way of facial expression and tone etc showed she was not impressed while I thought better to raise it then than complain to myself and then go and leave a review without being fair and providing the opportunity for it to be rectified. 30 December 2021. Great food and generous size. Place is clean. I also like how the lady with dark hair checked We are fully vaccinated. We had a really great time and was enjoying the food until one of the waitresses (the taller and bigger one with light hair colour) suddenly appeared, picked the tissue my baby dropped on the floor and placed it on my husband's plate and wanted to take the plate away! She did this very quickly to clear our table. Hubby told her that he was still eating the chips then she just took the tissue off and walked away expecting us to eat the chips with that tissue she placed from the floor? Really? That was shocking and annoying 😒. She was very rude. We were slowly eating and chatting away and still had a lot of food on other plates and was shocked with what she did. Before she entered the kitchen she looked back and saw our shocked face and did not even apologise. It's a shame how she can turn the place down with her personality. Apart from that all other staff were nice and food was great! We didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. Where to begin! No place is more deserving of 5 stars than the Sir Charles Darling. The meals are absolutely perfect and a huge credit goes to the chefs. You may be behind the scenes but you dont go unappreciated by the patrons & us thats for sure. James & Bron you are running a brilliant pub with a relaxing atmosphere for all to enjoy. You both have been kind hearted, generous & super friendly to us during all our visits. We have gained great friendships with all behind the bar as its you guys that have made our dining experiences the most enjoyable. You keep the environment warm & inviting & thats what keep us coming back for more. A special thanks to Tammy, Sam & Annie you 3 are absolutely fantastic & your personalities mesh so well with our family. We cant thank you enough for making our days a little easier to get through after such a long and hard 4 months we have had to endure. You guys just keep on giving with your hearts of gold.
