Worst experience at a restaurant ever!! Just read through guys and make an informed decision.
Reached around 5.30pm from a long road trip and wanted to dine-in for some starters which is not unusual for the time as we had to travel further 2 hours towards melbourne to reach home so not dinner time for us. Anyways we as a group of four sat down and ordered 3 starters from the menu. The girl who was servicing don’t know the name but remember her rude behaviour for sure. She wrote the items went back towards kitchen and then came to us telling that “you have to order mains otherwise we cannot serve you”, we were baffled at her dialogue and asked whats the issue and then she said the same thing.
I asked that is there any minimum dine in order and what if we want to order more starters instead. She said no sir we cannot serve you. I was like ok probably bring in one veg biryani as well for now. She then told us no we cannot do that, on further asking then she said something which she would have told us in the first instance that we have min. $20 order per person which needs to be placed(we were 4 people).
Ofcourse i had to respond to her rudeness saying its better we leave this place and she was perfectly ok with that. On asking for the manager, he arrived shortly i just told him that Hey, whats the deal with this min. order and whats the thing with ordering mains with starters - couldn’t we order 8-10 starters if we want to and eat. The manager was next level, started explaining people from our “community” come and order one papdi chat for two and leave. He also made a mention that we are here for 27 years, “you people from Melbourne” come and think its the same way things run here. I was completely shocked to hear this, don’t understand what this guy was upto and how the hell he has been running the business for 27 years. Well Mr . Manager its good that we walked off your restaurant and spent about $110 at a nice restaurant “in Melbourne” with well behaved staff and did not feel like a community issue there. You kept on explaining unapologetically in a restaurant half full where we could have eaten and walked out in an hour.
Couple of issues i would like to mention if you ever take feedback in a positive way:-
tell your staff to inform the guests if they missed to read that its min$20 per person. Instead of saying “order mains or we can’t serve you” - this mean i can order 10 starters but still can’t get served. Just need some training. Again saying that min. $20 per person was not an issue for me but just the behavior at how this was approached.
with your comment “our community”, I don’t know which community you were referring to because i definitely don’t belong to that and you are kinda biased towards some such elements. Setup a board telling which community is allowed and which one is not.
also with your comment “you people from melbourne” - Sir you could probably put a board outside prohibiting people from melbourne or maybe you think that Geelong is some world class nation in itself with the hidden “Kohinoor” at that corner. Feel for you that you have such thinking.
If you were running business for 27 years then how did you allow two people ordering one papdi chat and walking away.
I’m happy to see your rude response here to prove my point. Thanks a lot for making sure we eat at the right place always!!
(Update on the response) EDIT on 17/04 : Thanks for your reply here and confirming that you’re determined to NOT understand the problem and the kind of service people may expect at times!! who said that we were ordering only 3 starters?? It was just an initial order we placed. read carefully “Again saying that min. $20 per person was not an issue for me but just the behavior at how this was approached.” In other words, your terms and conditions were not a problem and were completely understandable. The whole conversation with you especially mention of point #2 & #3 represent a social issue at...
Read moreI recently visited Kohinoor Restaurant in Geelong with my family, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We were a group of five, and after enjoying the fireworks, we decided to have dinner there. We ordered vegetarian food, including two malai kofta, one dal, and five butter naan.
To start, the food quality was terrible and not authentic Indian food at all. The malai kofta tasted like plain tomato puree, lacking the richness and authentic flavors expected. The butter naan was cold, hard, and difficult to eat. It was some of the worst food I’ve ever had.
After eating there, all of us felt unwell and started vomiting the next morning. This raises serious concerns about food hygiene and preparation standards at the restaurant.
While I must say the service was good, it didn’t make up for the poor quality of food. On top of that, the bill was higher than expected. We were charged $108 instead of the $94 we calculated. There was no clear explanation, but perhaps it was due to a public holiday surcharge, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere.
Overall, it was a very bad experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The food was far from authentic, and the unexpected charges were...
Read moreI ordered last night from them for take out. An hour & half which is acceptable coz it was new eve night & girl who took my order said she can’t send my order until I pay over the phone. She been stick to her rudeness but offered naan breads instead coz she said they don’t have roti flour in the restaurant so she clearly said no & mentioned that she knew that they don’t have roti flour but she accidentally took roti’s order & mentioned that she was about to ring me after 1.5 hours time that they can’t make roti. They made naan breads , hot in temperature but way too thick & hard to swallow. Palak panner wasn’t cook properly no taste , daal makhni feels like only boiled daal without any spices. Such a tasteless meal & extremely rude , bad service, can’t even said sorry for that. I wish I could give them 0 star, don’t deserve any star actually. Very bad experience, bad service , rude staff , no politeness, tasteless food, very thick naan breads. Don’t waste money & time...
