Cathy’s Asian Kitchen is a nice spot for a meal, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Reservations are recommended, as it can get busy and the service is handled by a very small team. The service was a little slow during our visit since one person was managing both food service and payments, but they were friendly and doing their best. The food was good overall. If you’re familiar with the high standard of Asian food in Melbourne, you might find it more on the acceptable side rather than exceptional. The roti was definitely the standout—crispy and delicious! The beef rendang was good as well, and the laksa was enjoyable but not the best I’ve had in Australia. It’s a cozy place with a good variety of dishes, and while it might not blow you away, it’s a solid option for a relaxed meal. The roti alone is worth a visit!

Calling this place a hidden gem is an understatement. If you’re looking for authentic asian food, this is it! Please give the authentic asian dishes a try (even if they sound unfamiliar) and avoid only getting the dumplings 🙏. My singaporean family ordered the curry laksa, nasi rendang and singapore noodles (xinzhou mifen). We loved every bit of it. The SINGAPORE NOODLE was the best i ever had, and to imagine having it at lakes entrance was not on my bucket list 😂. pls get it Thanks to Cathy and her husband for their hospitality, we will definitely come again if we’re back at lakes entrance!

the reviews looked great so i thought it would be great. It wasn’t. I don’t really leave bad reviews but i am here, considering they have 4.9 stars! At first the service was slow but thats okay because the old bloke up the front had good customer service. The food took 40 minutes longer than i was told, i ordered and payed for extra prawns in the Singapore noodles and got 1 prawn in the whole thing and i asked for sweet chilli for the spring rolls and got none. Not happy. Food was honestly on the low end of mediocre.

Our family were heading to Lakes Entrance for a long weekend trip and we had a craving for some Asian food for our first night. So we searched the local area for good places to eat and I found Cathy's Asian Kitchen through google maps.

The location is inside a motel business carpark. And the interior looked by the photos to be a basic setup.

While the reviews were great, the location had me initially sceptical! And there was one review I remember talking about the wait time - but we took the risk, as, what's life without the risk?

This place is an absolute gem. Don't let the photos fool you. They've done a great job with the location they have. And the interior is actually all made out of wood. It's different, and it's relaxing.

It is run by a husband and wife team and the food is fantastic. Bringing traditional Malaysian food with a home-made feeling and love put to it. The food tastes beautiful.

There is a wait, and that's because this is no large team restaurant, no mass produced take away. This is a kitchen as if it was being cooked for you at home, with meticulous care to the quality and the flavours. It is a family owned and run business. So don't come here if you are just wanting a quick bite (or in that case, just order take away in advance). You can tell this business wasn't created for a quick buck to make profits to sell and walk away. This is a passion business.

My wife is Vietnamese and she is very fussy with her foods. So for her to tell me with every bite that she enjoyed it, as did my kids, then that is saying something.

It's a relaxed atmosphere, easy going and kid friendly.

We will definitely keep this location on our list of must-eats when visiting Lakes Entrance, as top priority.

Thanks family! All the...
