What a disappointment saw this place with great reviews so thought it might be a good idea to try it out.
Ordered the crying tiger, chicken satay skewers, rice and barramundi fillets. The crying tiger beef and skewers came out first, the beef was a bit dry and extremely small portion($20) but had a good taste and the sauce was good. The satay skewers were also good but found the satay itself to be a bit weak no big deal.
We ate and after about 15-20 mins and we’re wondering where our rice and barramundi where? It finally arrived however to someone else’s table, it was then brought to us and I wish they hadn’t. A soon as I took the first bite of the barramundi the fishiness came through immediately, even though the sauce was wonderful there was no hiding that smell and after taste. It pretty much ruined the entire meal which is unfortunate because everything was ok up until then, extremely disappointing and quite sad as I am not one to leave food behind but had no choice.
Hope they can make a point of using fresh fish or at least cleaning to a better standard, my wife is now feeling a bit sick...
Read moreWent there with some good friends as a long overdue catchup. A great time with my friends, food came out quickly and was good but not outstanding (entrees were best), but the performance of the waitress was terrible. This is a small restaurant and it wasn't overly busy. The pretty young waitress was one of those who never looked our way and didn't notice our calls of "excuse me!" & hands up for things to be done, e.g. to bring some chopped chilli and to clear our plates. She failed to collect the entrée plates when we finished them, and same for the main meal plates when we started finishing the main meals one by one. By the time we finished eating and were about to leave, the table was choc-a-block full of empty plates which tends to detract from the atmosphere. She didn't seem to appreciate that it was us who were funding her pay that night and had zero appreciation for us being there as paying customers. The night reminded me why I usually rather eat at home or at friends' places. I won't be...
Read moreI love thai food so was looking forward to our lunch at Absolutely Thai. You can sit inside or out or even take away if you want. We chose outside but at lunch time, it is a pretty busy street so we did cop a fair smattering of smoke from passerbys but oh well, you get the intimacy of being on the street with the bustle and grind. It did not help a patron on a table next to use talked incessantly and loudly on his mobile for well over 40 minutes. The table was clean, the menu clear and clean and the lady who served us was a sweetheart. We had a noodle dish with tofu and a thai vegetarian fried rice with vegetables. The food arrived very promptly and was fresh and clean in flavour. The portion size was commendable in these frugal times and overall the price was good. $30 for a lunch for two with nice food is pretty good. Would not hesitate to try again. Parking is a bit of a challenge but at worse you could use the parking at Australia Fair and walk. AF gives you...
