TLDR; Itaewon Korean Restaurant did not want to serve our party of 10. Instead left us all standing outside of their shop in the cold for an hour
Called the night before to book as we had a large party of 10, was told that they didn’t take reservations. Our party waited outside for 1 hour as they served other customers, even sitting a table of 2 at a 6 chair table.
Finally, I asked the staff if it would be possible to move two empty tables next to each other. They said they were unable to do this and did not provide further reason.
So I asked instead if it would be possible to ask one of the tables (who had finished their meal) to shuffle to the empty table behind and our party could sit in that row of tables. The manager answered, “well it’s rude to ask them to move, and they are very over time limit so we’re going to ask them to leave anyway.”
I am not asking a restaurant to make special accommodations at the expense of others, and really did not expect the manager to prefer asking paying customers to leave, rather than shuffle.
After this conversation it became obvious that the manager had no intention of serving us. If this was the case I really would have preferred they add a party limit to their list of rules on their shop front, as it’s really not nice to leave 10 people outside in the freezing cold for 1 hour while you serve other customers, when they have tried to do the right thing by waiting/making a...
Read morejust kinda overrated tbh. Had the spicy pork bone noodles and cheese tteokbokki. The noodles were not spicy at all, so my friend and I were disappointing as that was a selling factor (also because there was an identical noodles that was not spicy - you'd expect there'd be a significant difference???) and the broth literally tasted like it was water and gochugaru it was that grainy. The noodles were mid, kinda tasting like slightly better 2-minute noodles. The miso soup was also mid??? for the side dishes, the onion and (i think mungbean?) noodle thing were okay but the kimchi was SUPER sweet and not that enjoyable. the tteokbokki was good probably like 8/10. the pork bone was actually the saviour of the meal. it was so tender and juicy and fell off the bone and there was plenty of it (3 bones worth) the sauce was also like CRACK in a bowl it was so good - amazed at how the sauce had 1000x more flavour than the noodle broth. the service was okay - the server only gave us one glove for the noodles and there were two people at the table??? food came quickly and whoever was on music just played ariana grande the whole night which honestly is a vibe. got seated straight away because we were there literally 5pm on the dot but seats fill up MEGA fast. overall dinner was just okay really. probably wouldn't come back, i think there's better places...
Read moreBulgogi Bibimbap ($21): It’s served with miso soup (very delicious) and 3 Korean side dishes. The bibimbap and the beef are separated unlike the most ones which beef slices are mixed with the black rice. The are a great deal of vegetables covering the rice that I need to pick away since I don’t like most of the vegetables. But afterwards, I start to add the provided spicy sauce and some beef into the rice with over medium egg and mix them up, which is absolutely fantastic and the best. The beef is also large in portion, succulent, well-seasoned, and greatly minced.
Furthermore, most of the soft drinks cost $3.5 but $5.5 for both Ginger Beer and Lemon Lime & Bitters and you can make a drink free if you write a review like me.
In conclusion, this is my first time visiting Southport Central Mall, which is next to Australia Fair Metro and the reason why I come here is that I want to try greater Korean food in Australia. You scan the QR code on the paper to order and take the paper to pay at the counter after the meal. The AC isn’t too strong but the fans her are doing great jobs, and the man has great patience and service. The price is actually quite reasonable for its portions. The closest G link light rail station is either Southport South or Southport because they are like the same distance away from here. Overall, it’s a...
