I booked a table for 9 people. 6 Adults 3 children and 1 baby. When we arrived we found our table (somehow) in the dark, although it was outside as I requested. The menu was barely visible, there were fairy lights above the table, but they were broken. I asked the server to check for candles or fake candles so we could see our dinner when it came out. She returned with a white LED camp lantern that was flickering as it was about to run out of batteries. So I asked another server for candles or fake candles so we could see our dinner when it came out, he returned with a LED light bar. As he was trying to hang it on the arse of an elephant statue, I said to the server "excuse me, we aren't camping, this is a restaurant". He laughed and left. I asked a third server if she could move our table inside as we didn't have any light and we required light. She was defensive, stating I requested to sit outside and that the lights above the table were not in fact broken, but "set like that". I asked her to turn them on, she didn't respond. She began to walk away, stating she would see if there was another table available inside, but didn't like our chances. I told her we would wait for a couple of minutes and if they couldn't accommodate our request we would be leaving.
We left.
We walked down the street leaving our vehicle in their car park, to Manihani Indian Restaurant.
The service was amazing, the food was amazing, we felt like family. I can't wait to drive past Chiangmai Thai and go to Manihani again.
Chiagmai Thai charge $27 for a curry and with a bold statement on the front page of the menu that the minimum spend per person was $25, I would expect them to provide sufficient lighting and way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had high hopes for this fine little establishment. But alas, here I sit in bitter disappointment. The lack of service or rather the absolute disregard for service does not help no matter how slightly above average their typical basic mass produced Gold Coast Thai food is. I called to book a romantic dinner for two and requested to enjoy my green curry under one of the many Bali huts (which, can I mention are never at full capacity). I was told that I would need at least a four person party to enjoy this exclusive hutty privilege. I was slightly taken aback and the rude, blunt hostess and I agreed that I would need to call them back in order to decide on wether I wanted to continue with the booking since sitting under this cute little hut was the only reason I chose this Thai restaurant over the many on the Gold Coast bearing the same name. I then recruited two more people to join my party and called back exactly 2 minutes and 20 seconds later to book my long awaited hut experience. My blunt hostess then had the nerve to question wether I was lying about 2 more people joining my party as if to say that I could not convince my mum and sister to come to dinner with me. I then receive the ill news that ALL of the said huts had been booked. An amazing coincidence if I do say so myself. Now I'm not one to trust strangers easily so I recruited my mother to call the establishment with the exact same booking. And to my absolute dismay and disgust she was able to book without a glitch. Discrimination at its finest. And for those of you on the edge of your seats wondering wether I ended up with a green curry under a cute little hut? In fact I did. 8/10 would recommend. The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe family and I travelled down to GC and we had booked Chiangmai Thai restaurant as we wanted to celebrate my sister birthday š. We got there on time and we'll it did not start off great. Why you may ask? Well we advised the restaurant we are bringing kids and all that and yes we got the high chair but the actual furniture the table was not level and wobbley and due to this we nearly left as they could not fix the table or even move us to another table. It took one waiter to do the basic thing and put something under one of the legs of the table to keep it from wobbling we could sit at our table and this could have ended our night before it started. The other negative thing was the wait staff near the end of our meal were more keen to clear our table and bring the bill because they wanted to get rid of us and get another person on that table. That was not very hospitable. The food quality was overall good however I ordered spicy seafood and they only added pepper corn which basically the spicy seafood was not spicy at all All other dishes we ordered was good. If you order spicy make sure you tell them to add chilli š¶ For the expense of the meal and atmosphere I would say its a good place to go once but I would need too see improvements in food and service in regards to not make you as the customer feeling like you have over stayed...
