A Lamentable Disaster: Lola's Fish and Chip Shop's Pepperoni Pizza
As a self-proclaimed pizza aficionado, I have tasted my fair share of delectable pies from around the world. However, my recent encounter with Lola's Fish and Chip Shop's pepperoni pizza left me feeling utterly disappointed and compelled to share my unfortunate experience.
From the moment I laid eyes on Lola's so-called pepperoni pizza, my heart sank. The pizza's appearance was lackluster, resembling a hastily assembled, unappetizing mess. The crust, which is the foundation of any good pizza, was underwhelming and tasteless, resembling a cardboard-like substance rather than the light, crispy delight one would expect.
Upon my first bite, it became apparent that the cheese was of poor quality. It had a strange, plasticky texture and an overwhelming saltiness that dominated every other flavor in the dish. The pepperoni, if I dare to call it that, seemed like an afterthought rather than a key ingredient. It was thinly sliced, tasteless, and had a rubbery texture that left me questioning its origins.
Furthermore, the sauce used on Lola's pizza was an utter catastrophe. It lacked any semblance of balance, with an overwhelming sweetness that was almost sickening. It seemed as though someone had emptied an entire jar of sugar into the sauce, drowning any potential for a tangy, savory flavor profile that one expects from a well-crafted pizza.
Additionally, adding insult to injury, Lola's Fish and Chip Shop had the audacity to skimp on the very ingredient it was named after. The sparse scattering of a mere five slices of pepperoni felt like a cruel joke. It was a disgraceful display that showcased the establishment's blatant disregard for providing a substantial and satisfying pizza experience. It's as if they believed that a paltry offering of pepperoni would go unnoticed amidst the other abysmal aspects of their pizza. Alas, it only served to further solidify the pizza's status as an absolute failure in every aspect.
The overall experience at Lola's Fish and Chip Shop left me questioning their commitment to quality and attention to detail. It is evident that the establishment fails to understand the fundamentals of pizza-making, resulting in a subpar culinary disaster.
Even at the modest price point, I cannot recommend Lola's pepperoni pizza to anyone seeking a satisfying pizza experience. It is an unfortunate creation that lacks the love and craftsmanship that makes pizza a universally cherished comfort food. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a more reputable pizzeria for your pizza cravings....

2 seafood baskets Wednesday night.
The fish cocktail pieces I ordered as part of the seafood basket - I was told there were none available. I looked down and there were about 20 in the cold cabinet beside other fish and salads. The girl told me “unfortunately the are unable to be served now”.
She offered hoki fillets in exchange.
I asked when ordering “well cooked, Battered fish and chicken salt please”
None of this was communicated to the cook and the next person was served.
The cook came to the cold cabinet with the off fish cocktail pieces - and took my two bits of fish from a tray labeled barramundi!
While waiting, a lady brought her pizza back because it wasn’t sliced and they were going to eat it in the park - “sorry we don’t have a pizza cutter”.... why? And ever heard of a knife or scissors?
Another lady then bought her order back - no steamed dim sims.... so they left her chips and other food sitting for 5 mins while they microwaved frozen dim sims. When she complained her order was cold - they went to refry it - she declined and left!
Eventually mine was ready. Fish of who knows what species crumbed not battered Chips stodgy and undercooked No salt No lemon wedge
I asked what was going on? Inedible fish cocktail bits alongside other hopefully fresh food, stuffing up orders, not communicating, charging for salt
Response; I forgot to tell the cook, and chicken salt is $1 extra!
Food was oily, stodgie and tasteless. Fish likely bassa - thin, freezer burnt, dry chewy...
Read moreDelicious food, reasonable prices, friendly service. Booked on Quandoo via Google Maps. Large comfortable tables outside. We were seated on the leather booth with ample pillows for the bright red chairs. Full table service, unlike most restaurants which have you line up to order at the counter to receive a table number. Licensed for ‘eye openers’, I had a glass of bubbles, my buddy had the blueberry smoothie. They enjoyed the avocado Benedict and the mushroom Benny; I had the corn cakes with rocket and tomato, and passed the carnivore the two slices of bacon. A side of hash browns included two patties. Eggs were poached as ordered and condiments like salt and tomato sauce brought as requested. It’s a lovely spot to people watch- either the passing beach goers, (or the shoppers at the next door BWS). Tables are big bistro size and spaced generously. The corner is peaceful with minimal traffic. Awnings can roll down in inclement weather. Their variety of sandwiches on Turkish bread and freshly baked goods in the display case look lovely. January 2023 they were only open for breakfast and lunch, although her Fish and Chips counter around the corner goes pizzas and salads as well. Definitely a neighbourhood gem. Highly...
