Visited on a Sunday afternoon for dinner around 5PM and didn’t expect it to be pumping 😂 there was a DJ playing songs and people dancing so the atmosphere was a bit of a surprise. I soon realized they have a Sunday sesh type thing from 2-6PM on a Sunday. Which is cool, it brought good vibes and my kids were dancing by the bistro 🤣
I ordered the Garlic/Chilli Prawn linguine (I don’t normally order non pub food at taverns since it’s usually not great) but decided to just give it a go. We also ordered some kids meals (chicken schnitzels). I was surprised to hear we were charged for a few glasses of soda water which is usually free at some other taverns. So I was not happy about paying $16.00 for some bubbly water - next time il just buy a drink instead.
The kids Schnittys were a bit fancy (gourmet) with the heavy taste to the Schnitty - crumbed in herbs & thyme to the point it was overpowering the whole meal. I wasn’t a fan and my kids weren’t either. I noticed my son peeling off the outside to eat the chicken instead. Mind you my kids eat anything and even I did not like the taste of the Schnitty, like calm down on the herbs and keep it simple I did like that they offered veggies (carrots, tomato) with the kids meal and dessert included.
I must say the linguine I got was actually friken delicious! One of my fav linguines yet, especially in a pub style setting. I was actually surprised as I wasn’t expecting much. But I would definitely go back for this.
The service was friendly, the wait staff were really on the ball with cleaning of our tables as we finished our meals and had a smile on their faces. The pricing point is quite good compared to other taverns especially the kids meals. They serve proper quality ice cream tubs for kids (Bulla Iceceream) not cheapo ice-cream.
Highly recommend and next time il be prepared to bring more people for...
Read moreAfter visiting here numerous times( each time been very pleasant) I decided to book for Father’s Day for my husband and son ( as he had just become a Father too) I booked a month before Father’s Day, we had a 3 month old baby coming and requested the restaurant so it was quieter, after booking online, I called to explain the situation and the lady told me that hardly anyone had booked yet so there was definitely quiet, suitable seats available in the restaurant for the baby and confirmed my booking was I the restaurant and she was going to write notes .I also called 2 weeks before Fathers Day to ensure that my request had been correctly noted previously, which was confirmed once again and they also said there was a note but she would add more for the team. We arrived only to be told that we were not in the restaurant but in the main noisy area, and that a table booking in the restaurant was not guaranteed !!!! She told us that we were on table 200 but then she said they don’t have a table 200 And she didn’t know where table 200 was. We had to call the mother and tell her that we were placed in a really noisy section and she decided it would be too loud so didn’t come. Some of our starters came out burnt and we had to send them back. This was not the experience I wanted our son to have on his first Father’s Day. Was not impressed at all, very...
Read moreFood was decent. But the service was awful. Nobody to seat us to our reserved table, had to wait at the bar to ask someone where our table was. Partner went to the toilet and it was flooded with over an inch of water across the floor.
I saw something on the website that I fancied but couldn’t find anything similar to it on the menu, so I asked a waiter what it is called on the menu, was met be an incredibly rude woman who replied “that’s obviously a chicken parmi” and rolled her eyes. I showed her the parmi photo they have on their menu that looked nothing alike, she didn’t have anything to say. I asked if she could find out what the plate I saw on the website was and she just scoffed and walked off, didn’t hear back from her. Manager and other staff were very short and rushing around for whatever reason, doesn’t need to rub off onto the customers.
On the way out somebody got knocked over by a taxi in the tavern car park, bleeding from the back of the head. Very little empathy shown, took their time to call an ambulance. They put a tea towel under his head and sat with him, no other aid.
Bizarre night, never experienced...
