3 year later. Red curry wasn't terrible. Rice is still mush. Service is almost basil faulty comical. ...
We ordered from here again after 7 years avoiding it. The food is still not good, just rice and mush. No thai flavours.
I might be bias as I just walked out of the resturant on Thomas Drive having only half eaten my meal.
The service was... Well I had to ask for wine glasses and a chiller, I had to put the bottle in the chiller myself, open the bottle serve the table and then dispose of the plastic bag it came in. I wrapped it up and stuck it under my plate. I was feeling all class at this point.
They took our order in good time, my partner ordered the duck and I got ginger fish. The duck got served first and a couple of minutes later later the rice and fish arrived. I've had great ginger fish before and this well, on occasion it tasted of ginger when I ate a chunk of a ginger flake but that was the only time. The duck was fatty and had no flavour either, I realise that duck is a fatty dish so my opinion could possibly have something to do with the dish being half cold when we started eating it.
Up till that point I wasn't going to come back but it wasn't totally unplesant.
About half way through our meal they decided to split our 4 seater alfresco table into half and move it 7cm away, suddenly I am looking across at some guy chewing gum while trying to eat my meal. Have a look at google street view, then imagine squeezing 6 tables into the small area out the front.
I lost any remaining appetite that I had at that point, so we left, I tried to get a doggy bag but after 5 minutes of no one even collecting our plates we left. The bill was $25 a head for 1 course which was a bit on the expensive side for the experience.
My wife just read this and said my review was fair and that she wasn't going to mention that the duck was cold and finally asked me to add that she paid for a babysitter and was really looking forward to some adult time with me and she is now...
Read moreWe recently placed a large takeaway order from Bangkok Thai on Chevron as we were really looking forward to a cozy night in with some good Thai food. While the ordering process through their partner ordering company was straightforward and the food we did receive tasted authentic and well-prepared, we were pretty disappointed with how things turned out overall.
First it took over 1 hour and 20 minutes extra of wait of the planned pick up time at the restaurant to get all the food - we also did not get any feedback while waiting there besides 'please wait'. Out of the big order we placed, 3 items were missing when we got home and unpacked everything. Mistakes can happen and we understand that, but what was frustrating was the complete lack of response when we tried to contact the restaurant about it - I called multiple times during their open hours and no-one picked up. I even sent a message through the ordering platform we did but there was no acknowledgment and a refund for those 3 missing items was denied.
It’s a real shame because the food that did arrive was tasty - flavours were spot on and the portions were okay.
We wanted to support a local spot that’s obviously loved by many, but based on this experience I would be hesitant to return or recommend it to others. Good food is important, but so is good service and unfortunately, Bangkok Thai on Chevron dropped the ball this time. I hope they improve their response to customer concerns in the future.

Read moreThe ambience is tired and old, tables and chairs so heavy to move sitting down or pushing back and table top is so sticky, its time for an upgrade and new paintings on the wall if they want customers back again. It's not the Thai that it was some years back where the servers wore beautiful Thai traditional clothes. A week ago I went to Thai Chevron and ordered Bangkok Fried Chicken. Don't. There was no chicken. It tasted like the Cuttlefish that are fed to parrots. Breaking one then several pieces all were pliable and bendy and the 'chicken' was a slither of paper thin very strange and odd. I had a few pieces without realising and talking and was told they weren't prepared to credit the dish as I had half of the serving - cover up - in fact with 3 witnesses there was a quarter 'eaten' and then spat out before calling the server who tried to blindside us with it was thinly cut chicken, what a joke. And there isn't a knife in the world that would cut chicken paper thin. I didn't appreciate being lied to (waitress only came back with plate after 'cook' made a song and dance about it). Shouldn't have gone in, no diners, always a 'do not...
