I visited this restaurant around 5 PM on May 12 with a friend. My friend ordered a regular Ontama Bukkake Udon, and I intended to order a beef rice bowl. However, I was told it was unavailable, so I went with a small-sized pork rice bowl with an added ontama instead. After placing our orders and returning to our seats, I noticed that the amount charged to the card seemed higher than expected. I assumed it might have been a mistake, such as being charged for a regular instead of a small size—but mistakes happen, and I decided to let it go. However, when the food was brought to our table, my friend received their meal correctly, but I was given a small pork rice bowl without the ontama I paid extra for. My friend and I immediately tried to explain the situation to a staff member, but they struggled to understand us and kept interrupting, even suggesting they’d just bring another small bowl—completely missing the point. We had to walk up to the counter and go over each detail of our original order. At first, the staff didn’t seem to believe that a mistake had been made. Once they finally acknowledged the issue, they asked us to return to our seats while they calculated the refund amount. But even while we were trying to eat, they came back multiple times to ask for clarification, disrupting the meal further. In the end, I received the correct meal and a refund—but not even a simple apology from the staff, even though I was the one affected (my friend had paid on my behalf). Only my friend received an apology. This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years. I truly hope the restaurant will work on improving both their ordering system and staff training. Mistakes are human—but how you handle them makes all...
Read moreCome in with excitement and left with disappointment. First and my last time having udon at this place.
The waiting time is ridiculous with missing orders. My partner ordered their special but only plain udon with tofu being served, missing most of the ingredients (egg, beef, narutomaki), have to asked for a few times to get all the ingredients.
I ordered curry udon with plain udon presenting, have the luck of the day, I managed to find one tiny piece of beef which is different from what shows in their menu and Instagram.
There’s one customer sit next to us who received the wrong order but being charged by the waiter ($1 different)🙃
I have had similar style of udon in Sydney and I must say Jiraiya has much room of improvement to make including ordering, making sure customers receive the correct food, ensuring stocks...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place after all the good reviews I’ve seen but it was a let down. Came on a Thursday between 7-7.30pm and a lot of menu items were sold out. Price point was okay, service was good but a little bit confusing (the wait line wasn’t explained very well).
The udon noodles tasted like something I could buy from a supermarket, the beef was hard & dry to the point I couldn’t eat it because it resembled too closely to cadavers and the chicken was completely raw in the middle… photo doesn’t do justice but it was completely pink inside almost every piece of chicken in my bowl. I couldn’t eat any more after seeing the raw chicken and ended up getting food elsewhere, forfeiting the whole meal.
Completely let down by the hype and unfortunately wouldn’t...
