I took my wife for her birthday dinner to Manihani. As ratings and reviews were too good to be true. I had high hopes. Lets start, first of all, Parking space is not much. Public holiday surcharge added at the last moment (tried to take more money, fishy step). Speaking if fish, Something was smelling bad, like wet clothes kept there for months. Lets talk about our food, We ordered all "special" written things from menu, i thought those ones must be their real master dish. However, the taste of food was just worst, just like i would cook for my nemesis. Moreover, They served everything in Kmart crockery!!! Who does that with extra premium prices. speaking of prices, Average curry price is $21, which is already 20-30% higher than other restaurant. Kashmiri rice is $10.90 and peas rice is $15.50. The structure of pricing in menu is ridiculously strange and funny. Garlic naan is $5, but garlic chilli naan became $7.5. funny thing is they don't have Dal Tadka, signature dal recipe from India. Overall, curries were below par, rice were just rice with price tag of biryani. Naan bread were pricey and thick. Spinach dal was just spinach gravy in dal Makkhani or something. I wish I could go back to past and change this mistake. I literally ruined her...
Read moreLamb Vindaloo (Spicy level: Medium) ($27.9) & Saffron Rice ($8.5): There are a few nuts, raisins, and spring onions topped on the saffron rice. The curry is well-spiced, salty, and not too spicy, which is pleasant to eat. The lamb cutlets are tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked.
Mango Kulfi ($11.5): It’s actually original Kulfis topped with mango sauce. The texture of Kulfi is so good, a little crunchy and the mango sauce complements very well.
In addition, to note that the $3 water on the menu isn’t the water in the glass bottle on your table, so no need to worry for any surcharges. Most of the soft drinks cost $4 for each, Orange/Apple Juice, Lemon Lime Bitter, and Ginger Beer cost $5. Unfortunately, Cold Masala Tea isn’t available because they only have the hot one.
In conclusion, the interior ornaments are diverse, elaborate, cultural, and colourful. There are a lot of fans operating and the AC isn’t too strong. The foods are a little expensive but absolutely delicious and worth a try. Its location is quite convenient that the tram station (Broadbeach North) is only a hundred metres away from here. Overall, it’s a...
Read moreI must start off by saying the service was good even though fragmented, now on to the food... definitely not anywhere near the 4 to 5 star ratings I read. After years of eating Indian food in a few different countries in restaurants and homemade in peoples' homes, I feel qualified to critique this establishment. OK here we go..... The Chicken Tikka we ordered was by far the best meal and the Star of the show. The flavours of the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb korma good...but didn't have the smell or complex favours I'd expect from a made from scratch Indian restaurant. The tiny quantity of meat, that was cut into the smallest micro pieces was not great. But last...... But not least the Garlic Naans where truly awful..... they most definitely did not come out of a Tandoor Oven...... dry and like cardboard.... although I cannot prove it...... I think they may have been Supermarket...
