So i found this place via good reviews, so i decided to check it out as many reviews mentioned the coffee was very unique and amazing. Long story short, i waited 1hour for a piece of sandwich, and was confronted by a sarcastic attitude from a male staff member who works on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, we waited for a staff member to show us to a table (like a normal cafe). After 5 minutes of standing there and many staff members seeing us but ignoring us, someone finally told us that we just sit down anywhere and start ordering
We ordered a BLT sandwich and a burger with coffee. It took 20mins for coffee to arrive. After waiting for 40mins, we kindly asked a male staff member - who had an who wore red sneakers, had short hair, and works on a Tuesday - if he could check on our order because some people who arrived after us had received their food before us.
This particular young aussie man replied: “it’s coming, along with 130 other people here”, rolling his eyes with sarcasm as he walked away. Firstly, i just wanted to check if our order was missed. Secondly, the attitude was not necessary. I can’t blame them for being under-staffed or slow, as i understand it can be busy, but the attitude is what triggered me to write this.
After waiting another 20mins (1hr total) we asked another staff member who was very nice and checked on our order before we finally received our food.
All in all, the food and coffee is great, definitely recommend the coffee (but maybe get takeaway unless you want to wait 20mins). However, one particular male staff member who works on Tuesday has...
Read moreWe were keen to try this place after seeing good reviews. On arrival we stood at the door for a while and after nobody greeted us we seated ourself. About five minutes later a young waitress approached our table, slammed a bottle of water and some glasses down and immediately left without a word or even eye contact. My partner approached the counter to order coffees and was met by a different waitress who appeared to be so focused on wanting to be anywhere but work that she made him repeat the order twice - and still managed to get it wrong. After fifteen minutes in the store we were still yet to see a smile or any pleasantries at all. While I waited I witnessed an elderly couple with young children lingering at the door to be greeted as we had done earlier - after this didn’t happen the gentleman asked a waitress if they could have a table to which she replied “sit wherever you want” and walked away, hopefully to have a coffee or an attitude transplant. Finally our coffees were ready (albeit not the ones we ordered) and the barista who also looked like she was counting things she would rather be doing - put the coffees onto the counter and blankly nodded at me to indicate they were mine. Overall the service was abysmal, and no matter how good the coffee was the experience has left...
Read moreWas in Surfers for only a few days, and after hearing great things about Paradox we came to give it a try! Summed up, this cafe knows what they’re doing!
Staff upon entry didn’t give us a friendly first impression, however let us know we could pick any seat and order from their online menu. This system was really efficient, however, we did have one issue. The menu availability wasn’t updated, hence after ordering one of the donuts we shortly got notified it was sold out and were asked to choose another. It wasn’t a bother, however something that could have been avoided. Other than that everything came out super fast and definitely didn’t disappoint.
We ordered the ‘open steak panino’ which was delicious. Steak was so soft and tender, and the waffle fries were a unique addition. I really recommend this for anyone visiting. We also got the caramel popcorn donut and almond croissant which were pretty average classics in our eyes. The croissant was so fluffy and fresh!Coffees were slightly disappointing for us, slightly bitter but still enjoyable.
The atmosphere of this cafe is exceptional and probably the main reason we’d be back (if in the area). Overall we had a great time here and...
