Rubbish and very rude service there, worst restaurant i have ever been to since 10years in Australia. The woman charged for large amount holiday surcharge fee at Christmas Eve but let us wait for over 30mins for just ordering food. No apologize, she was even very very very rude on customer who paid $200 per person with a long time waiting. SELFISH WOMAN, I don't know her name, maybe Susan, whatever, only can see money in her eyes. If I am happy, I am willing to pay $300 for tips, but she made me feel DISGUSTING. NOT WORTH FOR A CENT AT ALL.
ADD COMMENT: I see your reply. That is very interesting. Why you guys mislead fact and information?? First, did I say not accept surcharge? - No, I said you at least do not show impatient face, I do understand necessary surcharge fee, but I felt totally NOT WORTH BY SUSAN. Second, I knew kitchen was busy and I could understand food need time, but did someone come to say ordering food - yes just ordering - must to be waited for 30mins? You should admit that we were ignored. That is two different things. Third, I don't want to mention but you attempt to find excuses to explain, we were just two of us, spent of course less than other big tables, Susan said "They paid more and happy", what do you mean?? She was discriminating who paid less? I have lots of experience travelling around the world, have been to thousand of restaurants with far more expensive fine dining experience , no one like her would say like this, I was literally shocked because that is very rude and you guys still think no wrong.
Still, you mention about bill, who cares $10? Who wants to be unhappy on Christmas Eve? Happy time worth much more money. Your words "You should respect that Christmas is important to people at the other side of your world." is so offensive. I was coming for celebrating Christmas holiday, yet I suffered discrimination, okay, fine. As a DR. graduated from cultural difference study, is accepting your education. Very funny. Btw, Susan, Hongkong feel shameful for you if you...
Read moreThe wife and husband team were delightful. We were greeted at the start really warmly and shown to our table. There are fish tanks with large lobsters, crabs etc on view inside the restaurant and ample seating. We had chosen a booth as it is our 45th wedding anniversary. We were asked if we wanted sparkling water or house water and then left to peruse the menus. We chose the Mongolian beef, which was presented on a sizzling hot plate. BBQ pork in plum sauce, golden fried rice and Singapore fried noodles. These dishes were so good and tasty. The golden fried rice took us back to our dating days where the Chinese food tasted authentic. The rice especially for my husband was a stand out dish. The Singapore noodles were out of this world packed full of flavour, this was my stand out dish. The Mongolian beef was excellent and so tender, with the onion’s caramelising on the hot plate it made a beautiful addition to the meal. BBQ pork in plum sauce was not on the menu but on asking they were more than happy to oblige us. The pork was cut just right and was once again cooked tender and the sauce was moorish and had added pineapple with onions to add sweetness to this lovely dish. Each dish was cooked to perfection by a chef who knows how to create not only the perfect balance of flavours but a wonderfully delicious meal. We also chose a bottle of T’Gallant Pinot Grigio to drink with our meal and it went extremely well with the Chinese dishes we had chosen. We really wanted to revisit Melba’s again before our visit came to an end but unfortunately they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. However on any future visits to Surfers Paradise we will definitely be making a lot of reservations. This is a Chinese dining experience not to be missed. The toilets are very clean and this is to me is a way of judging how a restaurant looks after the other areas. Summary: This place is...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience here. We are a group of four and we were going to try all you can eat in the evening (around 6.20 pm). The restaurant was quite busy at that time. For all you can eat option, they didn't have any buffet system and we had to order our menu with the waitress. They also give 2 hours limit for all you can eat.
First, we ordered 6 entree dishes and also 6 main dishes. When we placed our order, the waitress advised us we can only order the entree dishes first and need to reorder the main dishes once the entree was served. We argued with the waitress as we were very hungry and would prefer to get the entree and main dishes came out together. The waitress agreed with us and took our order to the kitchen. After 40 minutes of waiting, the first entree meal came and we finished the food quickly. We were upset because we had to wait for another 10 minutes to get the second and third entree meals. The fourth and fifth entree meals were also served for about 10 minutes after we finished the previous meals. We were not satisfied and disappointed with the service as they provided food was very slow and made complain with a chinese guy. After we complaint to him, the food still did not come and we had to cancel our order and left the restaurant. To summary, they only served 5 entree dishes in the first one hour. It didn't only happen to us, it also happened with other customers who ordered ala carte menu. The other customers also seemed upset as they were waiting for their food for about 40 minutes or more.
We highly not recommend this restaurant for their slow service and it is not worth to spend $38 per person only to get 1 dish for the first...
