Cafe Assiette — Restaurant in Hahndorf

Unfortunately there was not one positive thing about our visit. The table was greasy and dirty along with a very large dried up pool of what looked like gravy or sauce that had been there for quite some time. The cutlery in the box on the table was also visibly dirty and felt greasy. One dish ordered was the large mixed meat platter for two, all of which was dry and tough. No meat on the prawns and what was in there couldn’t be separated from the shell as they were so overcooked. One giant mess to attempt to pick any meat so they were left.

Also ordered was Weiss wurst (tasteless) served with the pettiest serve of potato salad I’ve ever seen, wait for it - TWO CUBES of potato amongst a spread of dressing under two sausages. This is no exaggeration, literally two cubes!! I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was like a mistake on the plate. An absolute joke for almost $30….. Another guests meal was cheese kransky with mashed potato and that was a feeble spread of potato across the plate for almost $30. Both meals came with small condiment dish of a strange tasting “sauerkraut”, not even close to a traditional flavour and not enjoyable.

Average, no personality and inattentive service. Embarrassingly overpriced, terrible food, zero value for money. I’m voting with my feet and will...

We went to this café because they advertise having the best coffee in town, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. The most disappointing part was the unprofessional behavior of the staff. When I ordered, they seemed so rushed that they didn’t give me the big mug I asked for. I also requested someone to clean our table, but instead, a staff member cleaned a different table and completely ignored ours. It took ages for the coffee to arrive, and when it finally did, it was cold. When the coffees were brought out, the staff didn’t even tell us which one was which—they just placed them on the table and left. We sat there for 45 minutes, but not once did any staff member come to check if we needed anything or if everything was okay. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend getting coffee here. Our family recently visited this restaurant and sampled a variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. However, the service left much to be desired. There were several mishaps, including bringing us orders intended for other tables before realizing the mistake. Additionally, a broken salt shaker resulted in an excessive amount of salt being spilled onto one of our meals, necessitating cleanup with a napkin. The waitstaff's lack of professionalism was further evident when they couldn't distinguish between soy milk, oat milk, or almond milk for our coffee order. Despite these service issues, the restaurant's environment was clean and beautiful, complementing the overall dining experience.
