Unfortunately, not a positive experience due to significant delays in food arriving to the table.
The three or four young women serving were friendly and attentive but seemed to work in silo's, not like a a team. We also saw one couple wait over 30-35 mins for take-away coffee.
We had a table of 20, post-wedding in Hahndorf and to be effective, pre-ordered three weeks earlier. We thought this would help, it didn't. We waited over an hour for breakfasts that to be honest, looked simple. Standard Eggs your Way, breakfast sandwiches, etc.
To compensate the staff gave a discount of $50 and apologies. I am not aware of why there was such delays. We were there at 10 am when it was relatively empty, and saw tables get their meals who arrived after us.
Our party then paid in bulk for each other to make it end. I paid for four people for example. This was easy to do because you can list the names off the pre-order. The staff claimed we hadn't paid for $50 of it, and to just make it end, one of our party gave them an extra $50. We were just over it by now.
The new bride was embarrassed she had chosen this venue for her post-wedding breakfast and unfortunately, we won't be back.
Helpful suggestions: if smaller tables are easier for staff to manage, please only take small table bookings. If staff are sick on the day, please let us know so we could have had the option to cancel and go somewhere else.
I half expected a follow up telephone call to the bride to say sorry and when reconciling the register, if you find an extra $50.
Thanks all...
Read moreUnacceptable really, we waited 25 minutes for one coffee, one mocktail and a pastry. The pastry came out first after ten minutes, with no cutlery provided. Then the waitress finally brought out a fork, even though a knife was obviously needed as well. We had to tear the pastry with our hands and the fork.
Then the coffee came out ten minutes after the pastry. And I have never in my life seen this done anywhere in the world: the coffee was served with a broken-in-half biscuit on the side. Not a biscuit wrapped individually like you would get anywhere in Europe with a coffee or tea, but a single biscuit broken in half and served like that. It looked as if they found a half-eaten biscuit of someone else's plate and put it next to our coffee. Incredibly unhygienic as well. I approached the waitress about it and she simply said 'this the way we do it'. When you pay $32 for a coffee, half-decent mocktail and one pastry, one would expect either a normal unbroken biscuit or simply no biscuit at all.
Then after 25 minutes, the mocktail came out, which was very average. If we hadn't paid upfront, we would have walked out. Will not recommend this place to anyone, spend your money elsewhere where they offer...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place but it turned out to be a beautiful restaurant with food that just didn’t deliver.
I was really excited to finish my day in Hahndorf at this gorgeous restaurant but I was left disappointed.
First red flag was they recently changed their menu, so the food I saw on Instagram and Google reviews were no longer on the current menu. I also thought their menu was going to be bigger, but there’s only a handful of choices so make sure you check the new menu.
I ordered the chicken, the ribeye steak and a cheeseburger for our son. The ribeye steak was appalling - poor meat quality, for $60 a steak, I felt like it was a total rip off. The cheeseburger was really dry and the meat itself didn’t have flavor. The chicken was so-so - not great and not bad.
While the service and ambiance were delightful, I can’t skip the part of the food just being a total let down.
I hope the owners do something about the quality of the food, the restaurant is far too pretty for it to have...
