Had a lovely Saturday lunch and a couple of drinks each. Service was what would be expected for the staff to customer ratio. During our meal there were pesky flies buzzing around. The door was closed only being opened when someone came in. On paying the bill I decided to get some cakes to take home. 4 were choosen and placed in 2 boxes. We went to open box 1 that night and spotted through the clear window, to my distress there was a live fly crawling over the cakes. Whole unopened box placed in plastic bag sealed and then placed in the fridge for return. Returned back to the Cafe and was advised by the female staff member " it was highly unlikely a fly would be in the box at time of purchase" and "" oh its still alive so definately not from us". I advised this female staffer - she could see clearly the box had not been opened and highly unlikely the fly was alive as it had been refrigerated overnight". Also pointed out staff member that was working on Saturday and ask them if there were flies around? After being stalled for some time and made feel as if I was trying to con her I refused to take replacement cakes from the same cabinet. The only option offered was to take other product which I eventually did and paid a little extra. I will never return to this Cafe and neither will my guest. No apology given at all and goods placed on counter female took money no thank you and then just walked away to serve the man to the side of me. If this were to happen again from another eatery I have been advised just report straight away to the local...
Read moreThis place looks very nice, but the sweets selection is the usual gluten & sugar loaded affair.
I had a coffee ( which was OK, definitely not great ) & an apricot danish, which looked very nice in the display window, but was very mediocre in taste - I had much better from cheap Vietnamese bakeries for $2.5 BUT these guys have the audacity to charge $7.5 for a lousy apricot danish - presumably the decor & cheesy low resolution mp3 "music" , justifies charging 50-150% more than many other places.
Only T2 teas available & only 2 types of tea to choose from - both containing artificial man made flavouring.
I went back the following day ( the masochist that I am ) as it was the closest place to where I was staying - for another coffee & a gluten free orange cake ( better than the lousy apricot danish ) but far too sweet for my taste & again ridiculously overpriced for what it was & how small it was. There are venues charging less $$ for certified organic produce.
I can't see myself ever going back there.
In a nutshell this place is mostly about appearance but it lacks substance & quality in what is served...
Read moreHad never been to any Daci and Daci store before... seen the marketing and heard about it... so was busting to try! The coffee is cheap and tastes it too. I would say it was too hot, and burnt. Bought a Tart Ta tan, and it was caramelised apple.... was basically served cold... we ate it because it was $7.50... but certainly wouldn't recommend. We also bought a nutella Donut, i liked, but my wife didn't.... was nothing to rave over - wouldn't be something I would rush back to buy Lady who served us asked if the everything was ok at the end, and I said was ok... i though the Tart ta Tan would have been warmed, she said it should have been... well it wasn't! They get 4 stars, as the place was clean and warm and their bathroom facilities were exceptional, but $22.10 for a toilet stop... I think there are nicer food options. We were visiting from the North - went to Hill Street Newtown beforehand, and would have been better off getting food to...
