Given two stars instead of one because it was very busy this morning so I guess that may have played a part in the below average brekkie my partner and I had there this morning. $12.50 for a poached egg on toast, which I thought initially not too bad a price (picturing a decent size egg and toast) But the egg was pretty much hard inside and crumbly, and even though the toast it came out on was small, there was barely enough egg to toast ratio. Thankfully I had saved a little of my coffee despite the long wait for brekkie to arrive, so I was able to at least wash it down with some form of moisture. It was only worth $5 imo. I topped it up 30mins later when I got home. Maybe I should have added the bacon at the additional cost of $5 for a piece…. My partners raisin toast (at $8.50) was equally as small in portion, although the cinnamon butter in the little dish (the only thing that came in ample portion) was devine. Definitely not the same Raincheck goodness of my last visit...

I guess being at the end of the work day for the wait staff predicted that we wouldn't be greeted as you normally would be but told to sit wherever we liked. Being OK with that we took our seats. The service remained the same with a waiter with little motivation to provide any kind of personality into his service. Food was okay but the chicken burger could have had a few more things in it other than lettuce and cheese. Wine was served in glasses that looked like they had seen better days. I get it, perhaps the day had been long, perhaps we weren't some of the beautiful hipster type that frequent the place but perhaps, just perhaps the service could be more professional to encourage us to return to spend...
Read moreI was patronised repeatedly by staff each time I asked a simple question, or made a reasonable request. I work in customer service/hospitality myself, and know for a fact that the way I was treated would be mortifying for any major hospitality business if they knew of such behaviour.
Service aside, the coffee I ordered was only just warm and very bitter (I'm a barista myself; it tasted burned), and as a result I was forced to add sugar just so I could choke it down. If the waitress/hostess was less condescending, this may have been a bearable experience. Won't be returning...
