By now, you already know this is a pretty popular watering hole. I've been here plenty of times and each time, 5 stars.
This American styled bar makes no effort to hide what it is, from the food to the art, this is 'murica at its best (Donald Trump Free). Plastered through out the venue is a range of American memorabilia and if that doesn't lure you into singing the Star Spangled Banner, the food bloody well will.
I opted to have the buffalo wings (they have ATOMIC WINGS if you're feeling brave, I was not) followed by the buffalo burger. Have a look at the photos, like reaaaaallllyyy closely... looks good eh? Tastes even better! My mate had the classic burger and as per usual, polished that down.
Plenty of options when it comes to grabbing a bevie while you wait on your meals (20 mins is what we waited for, pretty darn good considering it was packed) and if you're unsure about what to get, the bartenders are a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help.
This is a must go to place and one that will truly be around for a while by the looks of things.
Will be back. Will recommend.
UPDATE
16/11/23
Made the time to come back to this lovely little local place as I had the deepest craving for buffalo wings.
The food is still amazing! They've expanded on the gaming area giving the place an extra dimension. Personally, I like it. Games games games!
I decided to put on my big boy pants and hit up the atomic wings. It's a day later and I'm still suffering. What goes in must come out so before you do this, know that life for the next 24 hours will be unpleasant! Still, bloody delicious!!
I will be...
Read moreThey call this place the Winston, but they should call it the WIN-ston. Because I certainly felt like a winner at this ale house/eatery. I had a long arduous day of listening to my friend (who wishes to remain anonymous) play his drum set while my other friends (who didn’t specifically ask to remain anonymous but I have chosen to exclude their names) play stringed instruments. What was I wearing you ask? I was wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans, a fluffy white jacket and an even fluffier white hat. Once the day had almost came to a close we decided to venture to the fabled WIN-ston to have some yummy beers and some delicious food. Although the day had been long and my weary bones were aching I ordered a delicious pint of the WIN-ston pale ale and their special burger: the triple quarter pounder. After a short wait which we occupied ourselves during with a game or two of 8 ball our food arrived from the handsome hands of the one and only Fergus. He was wearing a blue shirt which was quite cool. It was excellent service from Fergus, he was naturally charismatic and charming and to top it all off, he wasn’t bad on the eyes. All in all I’d say the trip to the Winston was certainly a WIN, SON....
Read moreThe Winston has a great, bustling atmosphere and was a wonderful place to sit with my friends. Their chips were delicious too. Unfortunately though, I was disappointed with my main course. I ordered the "mr kiehne's southern chicken burger", minus the Chipotle Mayo as I'm not a fan of chipotle. When I think of Southern-style chicken I think of an explosion of flavour - garlic, onion, paprika, maybe some cayenne, definitely some salt and pepper. Unfortunately there was none of that. The burger was obviously relying on the mayo for the flavour because the chicken was absolutely bland. I couldn't fault the fresh, soft bun, the lettuce was crisp and the tomato deliciously juicy. But the chicken, although moist and cooked to perfection, was absolutely tasteless barring a slight smokiness/oiliness from the cooking process. You know there's a problem when even your chips have more seasoning than the chicken. Sadly, as a result of that, I had to leave the burger largely uneaten.
If you want a chat, cold beer, great chips, or famously good chicken wings then this is the place for you. Just avoid that Southern...
