We came here as it was highly recommended and got amazing reviews.
Unfortunately we got too late for their famed bacon and breakfast menu (kitchen closes at strictly 11am) so we settled for a Croque Monsieur. The waiter recommended it was it was full of Prosciutto which would hopefully satisfy our hankering for bacon.
As recommended, we shared one as it was very rich and filling. The bread was fresh and crisp from being fried Ina sandwich press and there was a mountain of cheese inside as well as a generous serve if the ham. Although it overwhelmed our palette with how heavy it was, it was very moorish and quite satisfying.
However, when we ordered something sweet this place became unstuck. We ordered a sweet seasonal Danish to start. It looked so appetising sitting in its glass case with its high puff pastry and glossy rhubarb filling. We figured that since this is a famed bakery, their basics would be out of this world.
How wrong we were. The pastry was stale and it lacked any crispness at all. Quite soggy and the rhubarb filling lacked flavour. We were so disappointed in what we feel should have been a very strong dish that we chose to forgo the cakes we planned to order.
Lastly, maybe it's us being spoilt in Sydney, but their coffee isn't as strong as we prefer (but this was true for all the coffee we had in Tasmania so maybe it might be a regional preference)
Overall we were disappointed in this place but we may give it another chance to sample their...
Read moreI’ve been in Tasmania for the last 3 weeks and visited this place 8 times. Most of the experiences were pleasant until I was served by one of the staff members as seen in the photo - I was told her name was Jackie. She placed my first order incorrectly, I reiterated the correct order just before I paid. Due to the amount of items, I also requested a bag for everything and she blatantly lied and said “we don’t have any” to which I pointed them out and said “they are right there”. Her response was “well they are too big and I’ll have to charge you 50c for them”. I said “I’ve ordered many items it’s not too big, I’m happy to pay the 50c”. After that response she distastefully handled my food and aggressively put them on the counter.
I also ordered some plain croissants and a sausage roll and didn’t receive them. When I came back into the shop to claim my missing items, the gentleman apologized for the sausage roll and said they had run out of croissants. I said “that’s okay, the lady didn’t notify me when I placed the order” he apologies on her behalf which I appreciated.
I am extremely disappointed and quite frankly, disgusted by this lady’s behaviour. For her to outrightly lie and get caught in it, then proceed to act in a distasteful way is really unacceptable. This person needs retraining and is not representing your brand...
Read moreSo disappointed!!! I have been following Daci & Daci Bakers since I was given a trip to Hobart as a 60th birthday gift last year. I was so excited to have brunch at this gorgeous cafe at Murray Street, Hobart, but was incredibly disappointed when, at 10.00 am, three of the items from their all day menu were not available. The very apologetic waitress then said the salmon croissant, although not on the menu, but in the front cabinet, was available. Our disappointment reached new heights when we were subsequently advised that they had made a mistake and the salmon croissant wasn’t available. That was enough for us and we finished our coffees and started to leave the table. The manager came out to explain the situation and apologise, but he wasn’t apologetic enough to offer a goodwill gesture and suggest that we not pay for our coffees. On our way to Hampden Road, we came across Jackman & McRoss, which we had read great reviews about, and had an amazing brunch there - scallop pie, porridge with figs and an egg tart and then bought a Nutella & hazelnut slice and a lemon tart to enjoy later. I would definitely suggest Jackman & McRoss to all my friends who visit Hobart, but would definitely not recommend...
