A little late night treasure.

This gem (or should I say golden bar) amongst the rough is literally hidden away in the back part of this inner city wharf/industrial complex, but it is definitely worth the search if your yearning for something more intimate and high-class than the surrounding bars and bistros.

Vintage furnishings and delightful decorations adorn the small space, and with a fine selection of whisky and gin, showcasing, predominantly Tasmanian makers, it's a great choice as a discreet speak-easy.

The beautiful tempered flavours in their unique whisky cocktails were a soothing treat for a late night catch up and the owner/bartender was a charismatic and charming character enlivening the chilled, low-key but yet opulent vibe that the place oozes with. The industrial courtyard juxtapositions well against the vintage vibe lounges and lamps. It's a well crafted use of minimal space.

The Gold Bar shines as a great choice for a late night-cap to an early-evening but intimate schmooze with friends or lovers alike, and it would be dangerously easy to while away many hours, working your way through the burgeoning shelves of choices that surround the bar.

A divine coffee shop, lunch venue and/or bar. Is there nothing these guys can't do? I don't usually write reviews, but was compelled to do so because I suspect that Perri must be talking about a different place. The staff at Gold Bar always make an effort such that they regularly make a bad day good again. There is no need to repeat an order (even when it has been a while between visits), and they are always attentive and on point when it comes to service. They also have the uncanny knack of knowing when I feel like a fantail as opposed to a freckle with my coffee! I regularly consume the gluten-free goodies available at Gold Bar (and I am sort of glad that Perri didn't find them so that there is more for me.) Yes, there are other places in Hobart, however, I will keep coming back to Gold Bar. I regularly take friends and work colleagues to Gold Bar for coffee and lunch dates and I will continue to do so because, quite simply, it is...

My husband and I had a lovely evening here the other night.

Gold Bar dont have a drinks menu. Initially phased by a this as I thought I'd have to do too much thinking (we'd had a big day) but Lachlan, our very talented bartender, was an expert. He guided us through the attributes of some spirits and together we came up with a drink. I really enjoyed this creative, discursive process and Lachlan's skills were very much at the fore. All up we enjoyed 3 lovely drinks each highlighting the major attributes of the ingredients. ...and it came with good conversation.

This place takes the art and craft bar practice very seriously. If you value this and want good quality ingredients and knowledgeable and friendly service, drink here with Dylan and...

Not sure how this place is 4.8. There is only a tiny section of the bar that is in the shop and trendy. The rest of the bar is in a very open indoor internal stair well. There was a huge out door area of wooden tables and chairs. Originally it was in the dark and finally the wait staff turned the like on. There was limited outside heating so dress warmly. There was an odd bath tub filled with red pillows. This would be great for groups that need a big table and can't get in anywhere else and don't care about the vibe. Walked to the bat to order. It took ages to get the wait staff to stop talking and take our order. We ordered mulled wine and whiskey of the week. Neither were very good. We drank the mulled wine and left the whiskey.

The Gold Bar is one of popular spots. The coffee is superb, and the ample sitting space makes it a perfect spot to unwind. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, it's easily accessible. The ambiance is cozy, and they offer delicious scones and cookies to pair with your drink. Whether you're catching up with friends or working solo, the Gold Bar provides a welcoming environment. If you appreciate great coffee, a central location, and a comfortable setting with delightful treats, this place is a gem! Highly recommend for a delightful coffee experience.
