Derwent Bar — Restaurant in Hobart

Went to the venue looking for a meal after flying in. Needed a stroller friendly venue and this was the first one we found. Walked in without a booking and we were quickly shown to a table, and a high chair was brought quickly for our 11 month old. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu has great variety and I enjoyed a departure from typical ‘pub grub’. Being from Sydney it feels like pub menus are copy-pasted venue to venue. I ordered brisket - simply fantastic. Tender and flavourful. My partner ordered the burger which tasted great but was a bit messy (then again, it is a burger). The food is reasonably priced for its quality. The specials looked fantastic....

Starving after our bus tour, we headed for somewhere to eat. I needed a steak and vegetables and this place served just that, and it was so good. Cooked to perfection as I like a medium rare steak, my husband enjoyed his well-done , it was served with broccoli cooked so still crunchy and perfect roast potatoes. I can only speak as l find...last year a small group of us thoroughly enjoyed a Scallop fest meal which includes soup and a drink. However, last week we had exactly the same meal... what a difference, scallops were so small and covered in overcooked breadcrumbs, the chips were overcooked and tough and oily.
