This cafe is a part of the old jam factory and adjoins the Henry Jones Art Hotel. We stopped in for some brunch on a wet morning. There is a small amount of internal seating with many tables available at the rear of the cafe in a huge atrium area. I had the open steak sandwich and my partner the egg and bacon roll. It seems they like to give you salad and particularly rocket leaves in plentiful quantities with every meal. That aside my steak sandwich was quite tasty with an okay piece of steak, tomato and caramelised onion on sourdough. My partner’s egg and bacon roll actually cam with two eggs which was a surprise. Coffee ok, service ok, atmosphere ok.

This was a really strange cafe - attached to the Henry Jones Art Hotel and really not up to the standard. The service was terrible. The hostess was friendly but we only saw a return twice - to take the order and bring the food. We didn't get water glasses and struggled to get their attention. The drinks took a while and the food was average. We had bloody mary cocktails and this was just like a ready made watered down soft drink. Really poor for the price. Such a shame, as lovely presentation but really poor quality food. P.S. over a 20 min wait for two coffees. I wouldn't recommend.

We had the avocado toast with eggs and tomato. Massive portions, two very large slices of sourdough made onsite, generous amounts of fresh avocado. The meal also came with pesto dressed rocket salad. My daughter opted for no tomato and was pleasantly surprised by an extra egg (3 in total)! Such a substantial meal. Coffee was hot and delicious, atmosphere quiet and pleasant. We had eaten elsewhere during our stay in Hobart and this was a standout for quality food and value for money. Kept us full until dinner. Friendly service, would recommend.

Disappointing experience. Had a booking for Mother's Day brunch, but food was served over an hour after ordering. With parking outside only being 2 hours we had to eat fast. Management simply replied by saying it was a nice day to be in the atrium. When we mentioned the limits on the parking, management were unaware of the requirements outside of their own restaurant. We have had positive experiences previously but this was extremely disappointing. It looked like additional tables had been brought in for the day, which would have put extreme pressure on the kitchen. Two disappointed mothers on their special day.

Addition - Thanks for your reply. I just want to clarify a few points

  1. I have confirmed with our group and there was no explanation about the grill. Had we been informed by any of the staff then this would have resulted in a more positive experience. (However this grill issue had no influence on our children's meals coming out - although these were ordered before the adults food)
  2. in relation to the parking I did initially try in Evans St, but many workers on Hobart will take that parking. I am aware that many of our hardworking staff at the Hospitals use this area on weekends.
  3. I did not suggest or request any staff to drive cars around. This entered the conversation, because I incorrectly assumed that Jam Packed is part of the Henry Jones Hotel, and I understand they have parking concierges. Given the delay in our orders and timed parking, I asked if a concierge may be able to move our cars to avoid parking fines, given that the meals were likely to come out when the 2 hour limit was up. (And no you cannot simply top up parking now there are sensors installed) In response a staff member "offered" to drive the cars around (but we wouldn't want that). In response, and jokingly, suggested this would be a cheaper option than a parking fine, to which I provided the issues of parking in Hunter St (above).

As I have mentioned that we have had previous positive experiences at Jam Packed, but today there was no mention of issues...

Came back after a bad experience and it was just as bad. The owner is as rude as his staff, very unprofessional will not return. No vegan options. Should be shut down read all the comments of bad service. Unbelievable and he blames the customer.

After such a rude response from the owner who was not there at the time. I will clarify why I was upset, I am vegan and could not find anything vegan on the menu. The staff were not helpful just kept saying no you can't have that because it's got cheese or milk. You don't have vegan options on the menu and you know you don't otherwise I would have ordered something. Plus it wasn't offered to me. Also our order was not correct when we were received it, it was missing some bits that were not bought out. when I went to the counter to ask where the rest of my daughters food was I was meet with " Do you want something " I was stunded to say the least. I said we were missing some food and got a huge huff and puff, from a teenage girl. The water bottles were also dirty. Very unprofessional to put up I was not welcome back not that I would go back anyway as it was the second time we have had bad service there. The owner didn't believe what I said so I suggest you get some cameras then you might have a better rating. Your staff are rude Your utensils are dirty Your food is overpriced Don't waste your money...

After having been to Jam Packed on many occasions as a visitor to Hobart we were very disappointed to say the least with the lack of service at lunch time today. On entering we waited to be seated as the gentleman at the till first of all had his head down attending to a job, after a short while he looked up and there was an absolute lack of any smile or welcoming greeting. We asked for a table for 2, we followed him to the table which he wiped very abruptly and left without a word. We sat for 5 minutes plus after which he returned, but not before bypassing us to go to another table close by where people had already been served their food. He then asked what we wanted without even previously offering a menu. We replied with the answer a menu please. Once again he walked off abruptly. We then watched him come out with some other meals first. Finally he headed towards us with menus at which time we had already stood up to leave. We said we had decided not to stay and his reply was zilch. It seemed he couldn't care less about customer service. For this reason today I would not even rate them with one star although I had to to be able to post this review. We left Jam Packed where we walked across to Muir's where the service was with a smile and very welcoming even though they...
