The Fish Man is exactly what you want from a seafood spot—fresh, simple, no fuss. We stopped in for oysters and they were soooo fresh. Cold, briny, perfect. The kind of oysters that don’t need anything added, just eaten straight from the shell.
While we were there, someone from Cairns was buying fish—tuna for sashimi, salmon for cooking. The Fish Man mentioned the fish had come in just an hour earlier. The Fish Man himself is laidback, friendly, exactly the kind of person you want selling you seafood. No pressure, just easy conversation and honest recommendations. We ate our oysters right there on the pier, watching the water, taking our time. Nothing fancy, nothing overcomplicated. Just good seafood, good people, a perfect moment.
