4 of us went for dinner on the 6th. The glassware is nice but the overall aesthetic of the restaurant looks more like that of a cafe, salt & pepper shakers not grinders, table numbers on metal stands, all smallish square tables. Head chef and I assume owners (?) were all out on the floor interacting with tables and guests, nice personable touches. Our main waitress appeared very new to hospitality, and didn’t seem to know the menu - called out one of our dishes as “pasta” and just waited when we’d ordered four different pastas, also told her we only wanted 3 glasses of wine and removed the fourth glass from the table before she could fill it, she didn’t understand and started pouring in the glass while it was held in a lap away from her, no big deal just a little strange. Waitress also missed one of our entree orders and a drink order. Second bottle of wine we ordered was spilt on the table when poured and no one came back to wipe it up either.
On to the food- One bruschetta was not as described on the menu (blue cheese & walnut on menu. Zucchini and mushroom came out) disappointing our waitress didn’t let us know as it was the reason we ordered the trio. Our booking was at 6:30pm, mains didn’t started arriving until 8pm, also hadn’t been reset between entree/mains before food arrived. Last main brought out 15min after the first. All dishes weren’t hot just room temperature. The lobster special; linguine itself was very undercooked, had a crunch to it, while the lobster was overcooked. Carbonara; overpowered with Parmesan and was split leaving the pasta all lumpy rather than a creamy sauce. Also worth noting there’s no GF pasta or pizza base swaps on the menu. Veg lasagne was the best dish of the night.
Overall underwhelming but hope most of this can be chalked up to teething problems of...
Read moreMy husband had booked a table at Fellini when we were organising our holiday to Tasmania from Ballarat, VIC as a special dinner for our family of three to enioy. He and the owner of the restaurant used to work together so of course we wanted to support Shane and were really looking forward to trying the delicious Italian food. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a warm greeting by Shane - a highchair already in place for our 16 month old. Shane explained clearly what was on the menu for the evening and offered to take our drink order while we decided from the many delicious options. Shane placed some warm cheesy garlic focaccia on our table (quite a generous serving) I had ordered the Pappardelle Ossobuco Ragu and my husband ordered the Gnocchi thinking he was in for a pretty "boring" dish but he was the first to admit that he was wrong. Even our picky 16 month old was eating the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, savouring every bite. So many delicious flavours and quite a decent serving. We then finished up with dessert, hubby got the Cassata Valhalla ice cream, I got the Tiramisu and Shane gave our little girl some vanilla ice cream on the house. I don't want to sound too dramatic here when I say this but eating at Fellini has got to be one of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. The atmosphere was lovely, pretty quiet as it was a Monday night. The service was wonderful and warm, the food was absolutely phenomenal. Thank you so much to Shane and the chefs at Fellini for a wonderful...
Read moreI usually hate to leave a harsh review, I really do. But this one is exception in negative way. Food was hit and miss. Pasta with Ossobuco Ragu had nice flavour but way too much noodles. Carbonara was slightly overpowered by pork flavour and pasta was overcooked. Beef carpaccio was just the thin layer of garnish covering the tons of green salad underneath. We’d be happy to give 3 stars for flavour which was ok but not amazing.
When it comes to service, they didn’t even come to top up our wine when our glasses were empty. We dine at fine restaurants often and never had to pour wine ourselves.
The waitress who was supposed to take care of us according to Shane, came to clear our table once and never even said a word. She just walked passed our table so many times without checking if things were ok.
The place was near empty and could hear two serving staffs (Shane and the lady who was supposed to be in charge of our table) laughing and chatting to certain customers and see that they'd make effort if they wanted to, but we felt almost like eating at food court and it cost us more than $200. so, overall our dinner was not enjoyable at all. Oh by the way, a bottle of wine was nice. But that’s as far the highlight goes.
We don’t mind spending money if the food and service meet our expectations but unfortunately we wouldn't recommend...
