We recently had dinner here, and it was, largely, a very good experience. The staff are very nice and the decor is attractive. We chose for our entree Pita bread with dips, specifically Baba Ghanoush and chickpea Hummus. Both were very nice and tasty, and the serving size was generous, with exactly the right amount of bread - so often an issue. We chose to go with 2 large plates for mains, the seafood "pot" and the Ras Al Hanout Chicken Mishwee. The chicken was presented in a kebab style, and was exceptionally tasty and interesting. Chicken kebabs can easily be too dry, but this retained a lovely moistness. We were very happy with this dish. Unfortunately we found the Seafood dish tasteless and lacking the seafood claimed. There was no evidence of calamari and only a scant few prawns and possibly 1 or two scallops. The sauce was very mild in flavour and there was far too much of it. The Pita bread served with it should have been served separately as it rapidly became sodden with the sauce and unpalatable. At $42 we found this very poor value. We were impressed with the dessert menu, and both of us had coffee creme brulee with espresso coffee, which was very nice and very generous serves. Plenty of other good looking options there, too! Malik has a comprehensive drinks menu, and we enjoyed the Bream Creek Riesling with our meal. Although we didn't order any, it was nice to see cocktails...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into Malik, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was immediately calming and relaxing, with a quiet and gentle mood that made it perfect for conversation with my company. The food was nothing short of extraordinary. It’s rare to find a place that combines healthy eating with such perfectly cooked dishes. Every vegetable on my plate was evenly cooked, retaining its natural flavor and a delightful texture. What truly elevated the meal was the amazing combination of sauces – each one unique and expertly paired with its respective dish, showcasing a truly creative approach to food. The color arrangement of the food was also professional level, a visual feast that almost made it too beautiful to eat. Beyond the culinary delights, the service was incredibly welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the serene dining environment. Malik is a standout. If you're looking for a restaurant that delivers on all fronts – from innovative, healthy, and beautifully presented food to a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere and welcoming service – this is the place. I can't recommend it...
Read moreWe are from Sydney. We’ve been recommended this place by some of our friends who visited here months ago and must visited restaurant in Hobart. So we made sure we visit Malik when we were in couple of weeks ago. On arrival we’ve been warmly greeted by lovely Indian looking staff in fact she helped with our jackets felt like VIP. She was the one who looked after our table and really being friendly, attentive but not over-boarding and being really patient because my wife had some allergies that need to be addressed and so she she explained the menu carefully. Additionally recommended beautiful bottle of Pinot gris and we absolutely loved it. We ordered starter pancake, cauliflower, lamb, charcoal chicken, potatoes and fish kofta. Lamb was perfect cooked and well presented. Our favourite was potatoes. Food is fine I can’t fault anything but there was no oozing factor like it was rated. For desserts we had some Creme Caramel and it was top notch. Simple but classic. Overall according our personal experience it was a beautiful cosy restaurant for Hobart where service is fantastic and food is average but...
