The Republic Bar & Cafe is one of the few places you can head into and something is happening.

Thursday through to Saturday boasts solo artists and sold out bands and if you like a cheeky Sunday sesh with tunes in the garden, this is the place for you.

Service can be somewhat lacking at times depending on the crew working and often the outside area has plates/glasses left for periods of time. It can come across as messy but this might be more of a staffing issue. This is evident when you notice patrons changing the gas bottles in heaters and turning them on. The staff themselves are pleasant and friendly and try help out where possible.

The food is good and the range of drinks is alright. The wine menu could do with a serious overhaul. I don't recommend the house wine (white or red) nor do I think the rest warrants the price. Stick with the taps. See below for food/drink specials

really upset with our experience at republic bar tonight. we entered the beer garden shortly after buying a drink. my partner had a drink spilled on him and tried to warm up by the COMMUNAL fire heaters, the group of customers near the fire we stood by decided we shouldn’t be standing there. we explained our story after staff were called over after being verbally assaulted by their customers, the young man i spoke to first was very kind and just tried to understand the situation at hand. however shortly after we were met with another staff member and security who allowed the other customers to swear and scream at us as we were being removed. i do not understand how you can allow security guards who do not remove the problem from your venue. i agreed that if anything was said again both groups would be removed from the venue. this did not happen. don’t come here if you don’t want disrespectful customers to...

Saturday night at approx. 1045pm I was told to leave this venue by security after bar staff ordered them to make me leave. I asked why I was being asked to leave they told me "it doesn't matter why you are leaving now" I asked again why they would not provide me with an answer. After a minute or 2 of debate about why I was being made to leave the security guards grabbed me and threw me on the ground. Very poor form by the duty manger on the night and the security guards who could not use any form of communication and would rather try to use excessive force to make me leave the venue.
