Annapurna is an average restaurant; the decor is outdated with dim lights. The staff is really nice and friendly, they are happy to chat with you. The vibe of the area is vibrant from Thursday -Saturday afternoon (that’s when you should go). The parking is available on road. They offer papadum just after you are seated, menus are already placed on the table. We were also served complimentary rice ( not sure how often they do it)- I really appreciate the gesture.
Dal Makhani: NOT RECOMMENDED- It was a mixture of different dal (pulses), the proportion od yellow dal was more than any other which completely spoiled the taste.
Butter Panner Lababdar: RECOMMENDED- Though its not the original paneer lababdar with capsicum and good amount of onion, It tastes more like shahi paneer with big paneer pieces.
Paneer Tikka Masala: NOT RECOMMENDED- The paneer cubes are cut in square big pieces, nicely roasted, there were very few vegetable (found 2 pieces of onion and capsicum each) served with half a lemon. The mint chutney was really good. @management: this item can be popular if it can include more vegetables in it.
Chilli Cheese Naan: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- love this item, fully loaded with cheese and adequate amount of red chilli powder sprinkled over it. I was expecting it to a bit spice, but this one was perfect.
Garlic Naan: RECOMMENDED- The bread was nicely good with perfect amount of garlic and...
Read moreThis used to be my favourite restaurant but not anymore. Thursday night I invited two friends of mine to my favorite Indian place (Annapurna). We ordered two on trays, 3 meals and a mango lassi. My friend liked the mango lassi though. Then we received one of the on trays bug they forgot the second on tray. I had to ask one of the staffs for the second on tray. Then, two staffs separately came and asked if we were ready for our meals. I said yes. We received one dish then waited. I asked my friend to have his meal otherwise the food would get cold. By the time we got our second meal mg friend had finished his meal. Then guess what? They forgot our third meal. I had to ahard the second meal with my friend as I had predicted that my food will not come soon enough. When we finished the second meal, I had to ask again for our final meal. Then, they took a while to prepare our final meal. The restaurant was not busy, just a few people were there. Some of the lamb pieces were too chewy and the meals were just blend. Everything seems to be overpriced too. My friend said, ‘the food was good but I will not waist my money on this again’. Rather than impressing my friends with my favorite Indian restaurant to be honest I was embarrassed. Won’t recommend this...
Read moreSome reheated readymade noxious food. Inconsistently defrosted food from freezer. You should not serve this food to the public.
We had plain dosa, which cost around $16+, chicken biriyani $17+, chicken tikka $10+ and two nan $3.90 each. The food came in within 5 minutes of the order.
Dosa was very thick, hot in the middle and super cold on both sides. This dosa tastes like an inconsistently defrosted dosa from the fridge/freezer. Chutney was really cold and tasted like canned coconut milk. Im sure if they heated the chutney, it would have curdled.
Biryani was at least 5 days old, the rice was really dry, with no flavour but colour. Chicken in the biryani tasted odd.
Nan was really thick, but tasted ok.
Chicken tikka was served as a sizzler, chicken tikka's are made in tandoor oven (a charcoal heated clay oven). Not as a sizzler, probably they just reheated it in the sizzler pan.
A note for non Indians - This is not how Indian food tastes like. I am sorry you have to go...
