Arrived 6:45 for a 7pm booking, ordered a 300 gram eye fillet medium/rare with blue cheese sauce and chips, and an eye fillet medium with peppercorn gravy. Three kids steaks medium. All streaks came out as well done! With the two eye fillets coming to over 100 bucks I wasn't prepared to accept less than perfect. So we sent them back 30 minutes later we got two steaks with some kind of gravy poured over them sunken in a bed of mash. At this point I asked the server who had stated she was new earlier, to speak with a manager. I was advised by a senior staffer that the manager wasn't there tonight, so I explained the situation to the server before going to the pass and explaining to the threes chefs directly what we had originally ordered what we received and sent back what we had then received and sent back and what we expected third time lucky right! 😀 the manager arrived while we were waiting foe them to get it right on the third time we asked to speak with them and the server said that they would speak with us at the counter when we paid... 😠 great customer service... we drove 30 minutes to get to this place based on the reviews and the menu, we were excited when we arrived and the blue cheese sauce was probably one of the best I ever had. So disappointed but the issue was clearly on the pass. The third time cooking steaks and the medium was well done, and the medium rare was medium well on the out and medium at best in the middle. At this point we were starving I ate half and gave the rest to my wife, on visiting the counter to pay/speak to the manager I was given the I just got here speil, I explained the situation he could do nothing but apologise I explained that the wait staff were fantastic and we checked they got the order right! The chefs in the kitchen need a kick up the behind! My wife was crying as we left we ate 1 steak out of 6 and wandered around north hobart before finding a suitable option for her at Capitol Pizza and pasta! The staff were friendly and good was perfect but that's that's separate review! The picture is the one they almost got...
Read moreHad dinner with my family recently for a special occasion, unfortunately was disappointed with the meals which were served. One eye fillet which was ordered was over seasoned with salt. When paying $50 dollars for an eye fillet ome would expect their steak to be seasoned, however not to the point that it is inedible. Two other meals of which were the satay chicken skewers - both satay chicken skewers were over cooked and tough. The satay sauce was over powered by nutmeg, to the point it was burning our tongues. No peanut flavour what so ever. A side of chips were ordered, in which were accompanied by an aioli dipping sauce. The aioli tasted like vinegar and lemon, no garlic flavour. The ailoi was more like a vinaigrette. A side of wild tasmanian mushrooms salted with cream, pedro Ximenez sauce and goats cheese were also ordered. This dish was served smothered in oil.
When questioning what had happened to each meal I had been given an explanation from the waitress regarding the mushrooms and the "satay sauce".
I was advised that the mushroom creamy sauce had split. To then I asked why would this be served if the chef knew that the cream had split, causing one big oily slop. Waitress gave the " apologetic shrug" on behalf of the chef.
When questioned about why the satay sauce was over powered by the nutmeg, response was "this was the end of the batch of satay sauce made and settlement from the ingredients had settled in the bottom. To my response "why was the sauce not taste tested before leaving the kitchen, and if the chef knew this would be the result of the settlement why serve the sauce and not make a fresh batch" again apologetic shrug from waitress.
I am disappointed to say that your restaurant fell below the mark. I have been here on many, many occasions and have not had an issue.
Best part of the night was the...

I've been here more than once and I've ordered their mouth watering steak more than once and have left quite happy more than once but... sadly tonight was not the case. I ordered a steak with some sauce for around $42 and got a meal very undeserving of the asking price... I was going to give 2 stars but my previous times have been great.
We ordered the pork entree which came out rather dry whilst the salad that accompanied it was a really poor attempt of changing the leaves up (spinach leaves) and using the same dressing you get with the waldorf salad that is served up with the steaks. Not good. The creamy mash was spot on though! Probably the best creamy mash I have had and the Mac and cheese was delightful.
My steak was fine. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't bad. It was fine. The basic waldorf salad was out dated, I say this because its the same salad they have served from day dot (I'd love to see an update, like a seasonal salad). My sauce had no soul, no body and had the viscosity of water.
Thats my concern, pure consistency and that's what I base my review on. We all have off days but when your menu is somewhat pricey, you can't afford this. It needs to be consistent.
Perhaps if there is a next time, I may update the amount of stars on...
