Unfortunately was very unimpressed to say the least , restaurant appeared dirty and unkept , was empty when we walked in , had a bad vibe about the place on entering , oh there was the owner doing paperwork on one of the restaurant tables , paperwork everywhere and listening to a tv show on his laptop computer which was very loud and annoying , there was a child crying in the kitchen, a couple walked in , looked around then proceeded to make a quick exit , couldn't blame them , l said to the kids after I ordered l think this place is going to be a bad experience ! The water on the table was at room temperature , l'd say been there for quite some time , a young girl no older than 12 took our order , she looked uncomfortable , we ordered a banquet for 4 , the starters came out and it was ordinary take away at best , lamb cutlets didn't taste fresh , seemed doughy and a little burnt , the young girl came to collect our plates then informed us that we will need to keep our used cutlery for the main courses ?? , the food was such a poor standard !!! l cancelled the rest of my meal and paid for what was served. My daughter and I had a couple of months ago had a meal at Anapurna at Salamanca , the food and service there was totally enjoyable , incomparable to the Taj 😕 l found the Taj had mixed reviews before eating there but decided to give it a go , two things ! I will never go there again ! and most certainly would not...
Read moreI’m writing this review in good faith. A friend had recommended Taj Palace, so we decided to try it for the first time, expecting great Indian food. Unfortunately, it fell far short.
Food Quality • Biryani (2 types ordered): I knew it wouldn’t be fully authentic, but they hadn’t even tried. It was soggy, watery, overloaded with curry, and had no real biryani flavor. The meat was tasteless. • Naan: Decent, but nothing special. The “pizza-style” naan in the entrée was just a cheese naan with a few capsicum pieces, yet priced at a premium. • Pakoras: Too much dough, making them heavy rather than crispy. A proper pakora should have more vegetables and a lighter texture. • Garlic Prawns: No garlic flavor, just a tomato-based sauce drowning 5-6 prawns. • Curries: The best part of the meal, but still just okay—nothing exceptional. I’d rate them 3/5.
Service & Billing
When paying, I noticed our order wasn’t recorded electronically. Instead, the man at the counter had scribbled something unreadable on paper and used an iPhone calculator to give a total. The amount seemed almost double what I expected, but I didn’t bother arguing.
Final Thoughts
As a South Asian, I want South Asian businesses to succeed, but with food and service like this, I see Taj Palace struggling. They need serious...
Read moreWaited 1 hour 36 minutes for a Biriany. Health and hygiene is a serious issue. Layers of dust in the fans, lights and windows and walls. Chairs a so dirty that you can easily see the dark black dirt in the clothes. Fly buzzing around. Disgusting bar fridge area looks like junky place. Zero sign of professionalism. Glasses and water bottles are oily, dirty. Cutlery are oily and dirty. Tissue given in the table looks like someone used it and put it back. Owners kids playing, watching video with loud sound, eating food in the dining area made me feel like I am sitting in someone’s living room. What a family environment😂. Owner’s office is in the dining area. Wow six tables totaling 15 people waiting hours for food, the owner is busy with his phone! What a juke!🤬So you will get an experience of dining in a messy office 🤩.My suggestion is please don’t waste you time and money on this disgusting place. Food quality is average. I ordered biriany, I think chef does not know how to cook biriany. It’s full of oil, rice is meshed( overcook). Not good!...
