I have been to various Hogs Breath Cafes plenty of times so thought it would of been a good option for lunch today and also a venue to try and get 12 lots of parents from a team in Ipswich for a rep sporting carnival to catch up later this week for dinner. Ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Po'Boy (since I couldn't get my favourite which is a Tex Mex Combo) and my wife got a Thai Beef Salad. The Po'Boy was a small amount of bland meat, tiny bit of cheese sauce and a few jalapenos on a toasted bun. A Subway Philly Cheesesteak is about 5 times better for nearly half the price. The curly fries are always pretty good but it was as though the oil hadn't been changed for a while. My wife's salad was like a prepackaged supermarket one with again, bland tasting meat. With a soft drink to share we were in out and for $42 on something that felt like it was worth less than half that price from a fast food place. Have always had a great experience with Hogs Breath so it was a massive disappointment. Also the signage on the road isn't adequate for passing traffic not familiar with this location. I am not one to write negative reviews but if you don't get honest feedback its hard to improve and stay relevant in a competitive marketplace especially in difficult times like the last...
Read moreIt's been a few years since we've been here; we used to be regular customers but stopped when it started to go downhill. Decided to revisit to see if things had improved.
Food quality: The 200gm steak was good and tender. The boiled veg and chips were pretty standard.
Price: Very overpriced. Approx $75 for 2 portions of the above, a lemonade, and a glass of water.
Staff experience: Our waitress was polite and served us with a smile. That said, she seemed completely unaware of which seasonal vegetables the meal came with and had to ask a colleague. She served the water in a bottle, alone. No straw, no glass, no coasters. Had to go and ask for the glass and the coaster. (They're still using plastic straws here.) When we'd finished and our plates were taken away, nobody approached us to offer a dessert menu. We waited for 10 minutes and eventually decided to leave.
Hospitaliry: It wasn't a busy night by any stretch. Staff were simply not engaged or interested with customers. We weren't asked whether we'd enjoyed the meal.
Value for money: You'd pay half that amount for a couple of solid meals at a...
Read moreWent there for dinner with a friend. Ordered dinner. $120 Worth. Went to the front door, advised front counter staff we wanted to head out for a cigarette B4 dinner. * I would of happily left the keys to the $100K car we drove there for dinner in... Manager at front desk says "One at a time only".. I assumed she was joking... Wrong. She says "Store policy, so no." I replied "Well if it's that way, we'll eat elsewhere"..She just kept staring at me as we walked out the door (Power tripping I assume) Found out she lied to the owner later, who was working in the Kitchen..told the owner she asked me for ID and I refused. A flat out lie to cover her terrible ability at Managing a restaurant. Tomato Bros. around the corner was happy to seat us, feed us, and charge us. Walked out and had a cigarette, no hassles, great service. The Manager at Hogs Breath - 'Courtney' .....a disgrace to the Business. I once worked with one of the original owners, Brian, many years ago at the Caxton St Restaurant..he would have fired her on the...
