I have never had a poor experience from the staff at Ipswich so it is very disappointing to provide such a low score.
At 3.30pm today at the Ipswich store near the Defence Hub, I had the experience of what I could best describe as to why an immature, smart mouthed what seemed to be a teenage boy should NOT manage a store.
McDonald’s, you have stooped very low to promote staff that demonstrate immaturity over commonsense or business sense and feels smug whilst giving smug remarks rather than a problem solving approach. At the end of the day, it is the customer’s that pay for his wage, regardless how minimal per hour he is paid.
His name is Declan (assuming correct spelling) with red hair, brown/hazel eyes and tall. Not only are his talents limited in numeracy, he lacks skills in other areas such as problem solving, understanding, listening and conflict/resolution.
Perhaps McDonalds should be a bit more selective of who that put through their leadership program because Declan certainly did not adhere to the core principles of the business.
We went through the drive through and the young lass that took our order was lovely however we were over charged ($5.35 per frozen drink) and she only put 2 frozen drinks in the system instead of 3, we were charged $10.70 for 2 frozen drinks….which meant we should have been refunded $6.70 once we received the third drink. We received $6.00, guess Declan failed basic maths at school 😂😂
It was identified by Declan that 2 drinks were paid for (he looked at the screen and yet failed to identify the overcharge) I did explain that there were meant to be 2 raspberry flavour and one blueberry. He then told me again that we had to go back around and pay for the third drink. I drove around again requested the third drink and noticed I was charged $5.35 again instead of $2.00 and I explained the same thing just happened and could this please be fixed was told that another customer complained about being overcharged as well and that their might be something wrong with the system and she said she would get the manager to fix it because she didn’t know how.
Sure enough, the same clown as before Declan, came to the window with the same rotten attitude as before and rather than listening, talked over the top of me rather than listening and than something must have clicked. He said I didn’t tell him I was overcharged the first time and I told him he wouldn’t listen and certainly didn’t identify the issue and I told him it was for him to identify and resolve and he would have done so if he would have listened, unfortunately he couldn’t be bothered to resolve the issue.
In fact, when I asked him who his manager is, he took great delight in telling me that my complaint would go nowhere and that’s not how things are done. This so called manager seems to think he is untouchable and accountable to no one, guess head office will need to have something to say.
Additionally to that, when I asked for name (I couldn’t see a tag) he slammed the window shut with a smirk on his face and walked away. I waited at the window and waved down one of team members and asked for his name and she hesitated and then told me.

We ordered 2x double quarter pounder meals with coke no sugar and a happy meal at the counter. The lady at the till got one of the burgers wrong and accidentally added an extra small chips. It took 16 minutes before our order was ready, and the restaurant was far from busy (in fairness I'm not sure about the drive through). We saw her pouring the drinks as coke no sugar but didn't say anything. It's neither here or there for me, but shows sloppy work and that they just don't care. The extra small chips from the receipt also never made it into the bag. None of the staff seemed to have any level of organisation or even a rough idea of what they were doing. Simple mistakes were made at literally every step of the way.
When I asked for a refund for the small chips that we were charged for but never ordered or received, a manager was called. She approached with a sour face, wordlessly typed on her screen and handed me the $2.20 in cash, saying only something along the lines of "There you are mate". A hello or sorry would've been nice, or even an acknowledgement of the mistake to prevent it from happening again to someone else.
Overall look of the restaurant wasn't great either. Honestly I've seen worse and seeing as the staff were running around like headless chooks it was ok. Just your standard dirty tables, overflowing bins and chips on the floor. Again, I've seen worse but it wasn't exactly inviting either.

The staff moved at snails pace the manager was swearing and throwing stuff around in a huff very unprofessional. Half the food was burnt it was all cold even the hot food. Lucky we ordered when we did by the time we left there was a very angry long line out the doors either waiting for food or very dissatisfied with food or the very very long wait wanting there money back as still waiting for there food.
